I've heard that CRE is all paperless logs now. True? Not?

 

Some are and some aren't. I'm going to say that most are. Not sure why some aren't, but I do know that they are out there with paper logs in some trucks still.

 

Any advice on what I should bring for training? Gonna be doing the 2.5 week refresher.

 

Total of 2 bags.

One duffle bag should cover everything. Clothes (t-shirts) 2-3 pairs of jeans and so on. Enough for life up to 2 weeks on the road. SPACE IS A PREMIUM! Bed Clothing, extra money to pay for bus ticket to get you home when the trainer throws you off the truck because of what ever reason all of their own. Dont worry, CR England will call you back when they realize it was wrong you went home (again, lol). A cell phone to call for directions or what ever. Personal confuser (laptop, computer). Fortunately in Burns Harbor they have free internet. They have crippled internet in Salt Lake City (good for a half hour, then you need to make new logon to get wifi). It was a rush to use to play World of Warcraft, lol. You may or may not get shelf space in the truck. Most trainers will tell you to toss your stuff under his mattress and thats it.

I have seen people whom showed up with 4 soft suitcases. Dont know what happened to their extra stuff, but I do remember seeing it. T-shirts will compress better. Maybe one nice shirt for when you graduate and they take your pic infront of some one elses truck. A Burns Harbor thing. You can ask what ever trainer to get you dropped off in Salt Lake when done with training (beats the bus).

Paperless for most trucks. Doubt you would be going otherwise. I believe the drivers whom are independent contractors are still allowed to file by paper, but they own their trucks.
