But I am an office manager with a small trucking company called Valkyrie Trucking, LLC. We've been in business for about 3 years now, but I'm still very new to the Trucking Industry and Culture.
With that said, I was asked to do what I can to learn more about the industry and the culture so that I can understand the way things run, the safety regulations (Yeah, I read the green book), trucking laws, and everything trucking. I've found this forum and I've been lurking for a few months now. Today, I've decided to join so that I can ask any questions that I may have.
I will admit that driving hotshot flatbed fascinates me, and it was a discussion I've had with one of the business owners who brought it up in the first place, which he brought up the possibility of driving Non-CDL hotshot flatbed or car hauling. There may be a possibility in the future where I may get my CDL and run either a Semi with Flatbed or Hotshot Flatbed. I went on the road with him for a short time, and I didn't care for the idea of no touch freight with 53' Dry Van or Reefer. Flatbed with hands-on work of tarping, chaining, strapping down, etc... in all sorts of weather sounds and looks a lot more fun and interesting than pulling a giant box day after day.
I am working on another venture that coincides with a hobby of mine, but its not related to trucking so I'll save that for another time. If that doesn't go the way I hope it does, then I'll be considering the hotshot flatbed idea again.
