You need a different cook for your coon. Do not know about cat but possum is greasy. I have to walk on those two. Did you catch it yourself or was there a foot on your coon?

I've heard dudes refer to aluminum as gods metal. Cross thread it, jam a bigger bolt in it. What evs.
Unfortunately I was the guy who got to fix everyone's screw ups. Made me grumpy. But they paid me very well.
The IH dealer has suffered from serious brain drain. The dealership experience is supposed to be diagnostic excellence. Bring me a gm from the 80s till 3 years ago, I'd stick my hand out, use the force and know whats wrong with it.
This dealer everytime they see a dt466, IHs staple engine, over 4 million made, it's like "whoa, were gonna have to figure that out".
Too much staff turnover, no more old quality guys left.
Had a lean code setting on bank 1 of one of our 8.8L gas buses. After I taught them how to diagnose it, they upsold themselves an oil leak repair under warranty. Intake manifold gasket. Not only did they not clean the engine before disassembly, they didn't bother to change to friggan oil afterwards. Needless to say im servicing a bus at 8pm so it can run tomorrow am.
Nevermind the other bus they had to take the dash apart on. Took it apart with a rake and reassembled it with a shovel.
The foreman, service manager, and I are now well acquainted.

But the best is armadillo. Tender and juicy. Nature's little pot roast.PoleCrusher, 650cat425, cke and 5 others Thank this.

@Flint1 I don't believe its solely a lack of skilled workers causing shortages. The company is partly to blame. A lot of them won't spend a nickle to train their guys. Lack of training was the sole reason I left 2 of the 3 dealers I've worked for.
This place I've been at since summer has really opened my eyes to how ####ty dealerships treat their guys. I honestly don't think I will ever darken another dealership's doorstep looking for work. I'll stick with small shops from now on.Slowpoke KW, beastr123, PoleCrusher and 9 others Thank this. -
Have no experience there. We call them possum on the 1/2 shell. When I was a kid we could sell possum hides for $3.00. Armadillos are worthless in my opinion.PoleCrusher, 650cat425, Wasted Thyme and 4 others Thank this.

I've worked in small, shops, dealerships, slack Alice fleet shops (i was the only flat rate guy there). They all have their pros and cons. When I was at the dealer I was proud to be well versed on one product. The way trucks/cars/buses/heavy-duty stuff is built now a days, it's becoming too proprietary. Try being a small shop fixing an 8spd modern automatic tranny, or an mx 13 with no scanner and tools. Almost impossible.
As for respect and treatment in the workplace, I carved my own path.
And sadly this isn't a shortage. They laid off almost 70% of their techs.
Very good to hear your new job is great. All this experience has certainly made me a better boss. Being a boss of bus drivers can be like herding cats.Last edited: Jan 12, 2021

Buddy of mine I grew up with....his dad was a fur buyer.....
We'd come in from hunting and I'd help him pull 75-125 hides out of the walk in and hang them to thaw.
Then the next evening I'd help him pack out the fat and put it in barrels after he scraped and stretched all day and we'd go back out hunting.
I contribute the fat humidity that hung in that fur shed made my skin glisten enough that my wife didn't figure out how ugly I was till after I got a ring on her finger.Slowpoke KW, beastr123, BoxCarKidd and 10 others Thank this. -
Good points.
The treatment I meant was you're just a number to the big dealer chains. The small shops, man they give us hats and shirts, buy us lunch every couple weeks. They actually treat a guy like he's important to the business.Slowpoke KW, beastr123, PoleCrusher and 12 others Thank this. -
Overall, I have never been happier during my career than I am now.
