My biggest pet peeve is when you stop somewhere you're not familiar with (to get some coffee) and they have crappy lids for their cups. It's quite a sight to see a coffee geyser shoot up and spurt on your dash and windshield. Or, the lid comes off, causing an exxon valdez-esque spill.
-
A lot of the T/A's have new coffee now and new brewer thermoses. I like this better than the old coffee but it's still not great.
McDonald's has the best lids now probably due to the coffee burn lawsuit. There's nothing like 24 ounces of boiling coffee exploding while you're hammered down.
Little America in Flagstaff now has machine coffee. Can you believe a mountain truck stop with machine coffee? Usually the best and fresh coffee you get is in the mountain places. -
Yeah you're new at this. What you do is buy yourself a spillproof coffee cup but don't cheap out it must have a handle; at least two inch thick plastic insulating walls; it must hold at least three gallons as well
-
Oh no, I carry two good coffee cups (and a thermos), its just sometimes when you're trying to hustle in and out (of the truck stop) I have forgotten my cup in the truck, so get stuck using one of theirs.

OK mine is Maxwell House brewed right in the truck. I had a 5 gallon container of watter with a windshield washer pump hooked to the MR. Coffee bolted under the dash of my Freightliner and just punch the button till the reservoir full then throw in a p remeasured pack of maxwell House hit the brew button 5 min fresh coffee and for those early mornings it was on a timer so the smell of fresh coffee woke me ever time. And yes caffeine and nickateen are my weakness.

Dude, you ain't kidding about the Caffeine and Nicotine; as soon as I get the first sip of good morning coffee, the next thing I want is a lit stogie.

Has anyone else noticed that Flying J has apparently stopped using filters when they brew coffee? I always get a nice big mouthful of grounds at the bottom of the cup every time I'm stuck choosing between no coffee and Flying J coffee. It's so bad I'm almost to the point of choosing "no coffee" in those situations.
Almost.
Yeah, I have a high tolerance for substandard crap.
Best coffee - Pilot's "Intense Energy" coffee. Loaded with cream, sugar, and one of those little "Stok" things they have for coffee. Like a double-shot of expresso that's been boiled down so you can add it to a cup of coffee. Triples the caffeine of a regular cup of coffee. Keeps me going until lunch, when I switch to Mountain Dew. -
I can't believe no one has complained about Petro's coffee. I think it's horrid-I can't stand weak coffee and it seems that that is the way it tastes at every Petro I've ever stopped at--Oh and the cups/lids suck big time. You'd think a truck stop would make the effort to have great coffee because that's such a traditional truckers drink that it baffles me when some of these places have weak coffee or for that matter old, "burnt" coffee. It's tantamount to being a sign of disrespect.
I love Starbucks coffee but that's a bit of an expensive habit so I try to save their coffee for the occassional treat and drink regular joe coffee most of the time. And yes, I like to pollute my coffee with cream and sugar.
