Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I would hold off and see if you got any other responses. You dont need to just jump on the first thing that comes along. just my opinion.
Oh and congrats on the new cdl and your upcoming job Keep us posted and dont be afraid to ask anythingLast edited: Oct 26, 2009

Congratulations

Best of Luck to You and Your Success!!!!BigI Thanks this. -
I'd probably jump at it for nothing else than to get my feet wet. This job market and the fact you are green are against you.
BigI and Sacred Feline Thank this. -
I worked for Werner for a year and half. They are not bad...I know others will say differently, but they hire drivers with no experience. You have to start somewhere. You have a benefit of living in Ohio. A lot of their freight is in that area of the country.
BigI Thanks this. -
Thanks all I asked them to hold the orientation off a week to see if I get anything else.

Congrats on the CDL, BigI! You will hear a lot of negative about Werner, but there are some positive stories here, too. I read them when considering Werner, too, but I know too many former Werner drivers. Maybe your experience will be quite different. You have to start somewhere at 21, so just be ready to suck it up for at least 6 months.
BTW, if you wanted to wait a little longer, please believe that you can. I was pre-hired with Werner back in April, and I just stopped getting messages in my voicemail this month, but I did get a postcard two weeks ago. I'd still encourage you to read a little more about Werner on this board to make a more informed decision. Chatting at truck stops won't hurt either. Good Luck! :smt023BigI Thanks this. -
