You forgot to mention pam charges you 5% of your gross pay to work for them so not only do you have 5% going to them. You have school and everything else being charged to you on a weekly basis.
Just quit PAM..

Lucky Lady, I know Jesus. I love Jesus. I thank Him everyday for saving me from hell. I don't know who the "long haired guy" you're talking about is, but if you knew Jesus you'd be much more respectful. He did DIE for you.
JimTheHut Thanks this. -
His name is Jesus and He is the Creator of all things seen and unseen. Your long haired guy is satan casting shadows in your life. On your knees is where you'll meet Jesus. Peace.JimTheHut Thanks this. -

And just why would anyone let a company "charge" them 5% of paycheck?? If this is true, I would think there would have to be documents signed. If no documents exists, I would be talking to my lawyer and would no doubt get that BS stopped in a hurry or sue the crapola out of them. -
Doesn't work that way - the company sent out a fleet-wide message a few months back about needing to tighten the belt and do a 5% pay cut (pre-tax). What it boils down to is PAM and it's various divisions is garbage, pure and simple. Anyone who is thinking of going with this company: It's just like every other starter company.
They don't care about you.
They don't care if you make money.
They don't care if you never get home.
They don't care if you lose your house, family and sanity.
You are a driver code on a truck and that truck will move with or without you on it. There is nothing special about you, no matter how hard you work or how much garbage you're willing to put up with. If they can use and abuse you, then they will and when you're ready to call it quits at the 6 month mark because your bills are behind, your family is starving or you just lost the house, you either go into the 'training department' or they have you hop off the truck, and send you a bill to the tune of 6,000 dollars.
This industry has potential to make money, but not with a mega-carrier. Find some small company to work for or maybe, just maybe, you'll get lucky enough to find a job that has nothing to do with driving a truck (graphic arts and design now). -
I don't preach to the choir. I preach to the lost. Like you.

I started with PAM years ago, and was lucky enough to land a GM lane from Detroit to Dallas - the only reason I lasted ....
I can't believe the 5% paycut deal, since they have always been well known for being at the "low end" of pay for OTR companies.
As far as being a good "starter company", probably not -since gear shifting experience will be required at most descent companies. -
