    hi guys
I have a volvo 2014 with cummins isx. the truck has 665k miles on it. last week i was hauling a light load of about 15k. as soon as i started an uphill in Oregon the turbo whistling sound just became too loud. it was way louder than normal. just got the brand new turbo in october(4 months ago) from a volvo dealership. as a habit i checked the soot level which was at 0 level and it stayed at 0 for 2-3 days. went to mechanic and he replaced the dozer and a sensor on turbo, changed the egr cooler. but the problem is still there and the truck is loosing power on slight uphill even with empty trailer. the truck is at volvo dealersip and they say they do not hear any unusual sound from turbo. they say i need a delta p sensor, tensioner belt and a v belt. could the belt be a reason for loosing power. spent 11k in october and 12k this time but still nowhere. please help !!

Sounds like you've got a leak somewhere and they haven't found it. Hard to get the truck up to temp at a dealer.

$12k? On what else? Sounds like you need a different dealer.

Check if the charge air cooler is leaking. That could cause the loss of power and the noise.

Also could be the intake manifold gasket leaking, along with the tube that supplies air to the air compressor. Check the air to air system and you should find it, either use air pressure or a "smoke" machine

Check the boots. There could be a rip in one of the layers of material. The boots are compromised of a few layers and when one gets breached it will make a very high pitched squeal is the best i can describe it. It's from the layers rubbing/vibrating together quickly.

Not saying it's the problem but it could be. Where do you hear it from

I have had the boot come off at the turbo and also had the turbo loosen on me and make a lot of noise on previous volvoes

While the truck is running spray some starting fluid on the line from the turbo to the charge air cooler then the cooler itself then to the intake if the engine revs higher at the point your spraying there is your leak

Don’t some people have power issues if new turbo isn’t adjusted proper in ecm on the isx. I would get engine issues fixed at Cummins instead of Volvo .

All that air is under pressure and trying to escape. How would the ether get into the flow? I could see it if it were under vacuum, but it isn't.
