Yes it has to be removed easy to do just need 18 mil socket and make sure remove middle bolt and than carefully pop each side and it will come off.

Hey, did you ever fix this? I got the same error today for the first time. 840k on truck, 2015.

thanks -
Will do. I hate the check light popping up all the time. Mine just started so not sure if it is going to be constant or go away for awhile.
I've done a clock spring or two on other vehicles, not really a hard job. Volvo's price will probably be the worst part. -

I got the same big picture of the airbag you showed but my truck has a 'check' light right where yours has the white 'I' for info. You can cancel the big airbag pic but the 'check' stays on....so far. May be just a difference in the year of our trucks. Thanks for pointing that out though, I didn't notice the difference at first.
Every electrical error I ever get including low windshield washer makes that check light come on for awhile. -
Wow that’s weird and frustrating for sure.
Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing every time I start my truck. There were a few times the error code went away and when I checked my airbag in diagnostics there’s a code but no check light. -
So update on mine, it wasn't the ELD, it was the SRS control module. It started out with the check light coming on then going away. Finally check light came on and stayed on. Had a codes for clock spring and module. Be prepared, the module replacement is big dollars. The module itself is around 500 bucks but it's the labor. It's tucked up by the firewall deep in the dash, major headache. Then when replaced it has to be programmed to your VIN. Bout 1700 bucks parts and labor.
Weiboy718 Thanks this. -
