Got notification of an update available for my Rand McNally Overdryve 8 Pro Truck GPS. Downloaded and installed. Now the weather features are "trying" to work. They work maybe half the time, to a varying degree.

There seems to be some action by RM in the background since this latest ransomware/hack incident.

If it were me, would still be leery to buy a new RM gps, it doesn't look like we are out of the woods yet. But certainly a step in the right direction.

    tscottme Thanks this.

Biggest problems with Rand Mcnally is (and probably Garmin too)

They have not done an update on their maps since April 4 2019.

Also - I've been using the Overdryve whatever 7" tablet with xm - anyway been using this one about 18 months and *bam* no longer able to locate gps satellite. Same thing happened to my previous unit -the Tab 8 and same prior to that.

Over the last few weeks there has been steady improvement in RM data services. My Overdryve 8 Pro is performing at near optimum about 90% of full functionality. The graphics for weather overlay are really sharp and high quality! The routing still is lacking, but the new 2.0 version has a new routing engine.

Has anyone bought the new 2.0?

Case in point: I-80 WB closed at Donner yesterday. I run RM Overdryve & Garmin OTR GPS and Garmin told me about the closure and re-routed me immediately through South Tahoe & CA 50. RM data services never knew or reported the closure and was unable to reroute until I had already come over the pass. I still really enjoy the features on RM and the graphics. Both have elevation but the section view on elevation only exists in Garmin best I can tell. I use it a lot in mountains. If RM ever gets their unit fully functioning it will be tough to beat. Still not quite there yet.
