You can't fix the problem if the higher ups don't know about it...that bad trainer shouldnt be training...or driving for that matter...and as long as people keep silent about it, well he's going to keep running good people off, and eventually hurt someone...don't do the silent treatment.

I have been with Tyson for going on 11 years now, I started in the plant as a supervisor in shipping, then went to dispatch, now I am a driver...and yes there are bad things, there are in every company or job...and I have my complaints, but I am happy here or otherwise I would be somewhere else. I know what to expect of the bad now, and also know what to expect of the good now that I have been here a while...and I recommend to anyone interested in working for Tyson, give it a go. The benefits are awesome...and everyone gets the same benefits options...from the CEO to the catcher working on the farms...and about the 100% legal...its possible...but you have to want to do it, and make it work. And know when to say yes, and when to say no...know how to plan your trips, utilize your down time and ask questions from the trainers who are always available to you for that purpose...don't go to the truck stop and ask the renegade only keeps the fuel stops right driver...because every company has them...

Figure it this way...70 mph truck, avg speed per day is 50 mph, due to traffic, stops, etc. that means you can run 500 miles per day...say in 10 hrs per day, which you wont work that everyday because we are a production company, and there are going to be down times waiting on a load. Well the law says you can run 70 hrs per week so, 10 hrs a day times 7 days...your legal. And if you can't do it, then Tyson has trainers on staff to teach you how to do it. Yes, we used to be a renegade fleet...after a good hand slapping and a smack on the butt...we do it legal. And with pending legislation on electronic logs...everyone is going to have to learn how to do it legal. Or keep doing it the right way to begin with.

there are alot of renegade companies out there...and in this industry just about every company has the safety department telling you to run legal, log it legal, drive it legal...and then in the next office dispatch is telling you it has to be there. EVERY company has that...but its up to the driver to say no...and if they get punished for it by the dispatcher...well you go to safety and say...here's the deal. And I know that is easier said than done...but that is what you have to do. If you want to safeguard your health, life and family...you have to take control of your truck and your schedule. Sure you wont make the money of that guy running 5k miles per week...but you dont have to wonder when your going to get a level 1 inspection either. I run 3k to 3500 miles per week...legally...I made over 60k last year doing it...I have various safe driving awards and other perks for doing it...I sleep better at night, and I dont have to worry about an inspection. It can be done... but you got to say something to take control of the situation.
Watch your following distance...and expect the stupid to do stupid things...thats the only advice I can say to avoid a collision with a 4 wheeler.

Why is there a huge influx of 2006 threads being brought back? Is someone just trying to get their post count up or what?

:biggrin_25519:Goodmorning, i know the feeling all too well, yes like that last post, there up too three differnt people in terminal or more too tell you what too do at a givin, time , your dm is the only one, that you should be getting your load from, most dm never been behind the wheel, they have not a clue as how too get there, just get it there they say,it's only a half finger on the map, i got dispacth , went too my truck , did my math with rest breaks , and went back in and gave it back too him, they didnt like that, asked why and said look at my hours, i have 17 hrs left and was 27 hrs run, now true i could've took it and ran it, but i would been short on sleeper or my appt by 3 hrs, and he said well this driver can do it , so we had a go around in office, finnly after a much shove and push , my dispacther was taking money under the desk and the driver was fixing logs too look legal like, thats why i knew it wouldnt work , just by looking at the time table and i couldnt belive the safety dept didnt cacth, both were fired in a week, and kinda feel bad about that, cause i'm a easy going type and it bothered me that both lost there job,so thats anthor thing when going and looking at jobs for company and you can always tell, like the driver says ,aw i got plenty time and hes delviers in ca in two days and hes in the yard in mich ,ya that a dead give away, but's thats my opion, now if im going back out , i think the only runs now as im older and little more wiser in the trucker world is decated runs, dam i must be a truckdriver i cant spell worth a hoot or the coffee ant kicked in yet, :biggrin_2559:Everett.

Talked with the Recruiting manager and he stated that due to the influx of applications, they are requiring verifiable driving experience within the last year, with at least 6 months experience to qualify for hiring, and then you would be with a trainer. Most accredited training schools will qualify...I recommend Central Tech in Drumright, OK. it is a state run school. I recommend calling and talking to a recruitor for the latest information as to hiring areas, requirements for employment, since they are updated regularly.
