Looking at buying a Cascadia with a dd13 and a dt12 transmission. I've been trucking for 30 plus years and am now partially handicapped. My question is. Does anybody have "real world" experience, pulling a loaded hopper trailer out of a field using this transmission? Also it's a direct drive dd12 with a 2.47 rear ratio.
DT12 Transmission AG uses?

loaded hopper with Dd13 ? ))))
you need a truck with dd16 engine and big rears(Meritor only)... -
DD16? That's a little overkill unless he's pulling a super b.
The 2.47 rear ratio would be what would make me pass. Not a good ratio for heavy loads on soft ground IMO. -
Not Freightliner, but our fleet had Volvos with iShift, pretty much has same first gear ratio of 11.78 and 3.42 rears. They couldn’t launch 140,000 lbs out of a soft field without getting a push. The newer ones with the crawler gear work good. The new Detroit HD transmission has better gearing.
The direct drive does have a lower 1st gear than the over drive. About 14.94
You might be okay at 80,000 but 2.79 would be better.
there is a formula for startability to be certain. -
Thanks I'd be 80,000 and it's a dt12 hd. Maybe it would put up with it during harvest.
