If you have a PO Box the post office wants a physical address, so does my bank.

    It's an anti-terroist thing :biggrin_25522:

Becareful I use to work for the IRS and they will want to see your reciepts keep everything these auditors are out to make you pay, they are not your friends and so keep your reciepts from everything and keep an acturate and up to date log book and use different pens. I was an auditor and this is what they train us to look for. The regulations are a guide and they can be interperted anyway and that is what i was taught. I am no longer with the IRS I was to nice as they put it and I could not handle them screwing people over.

WTF? I've used the same Pilot narrow tip ink pen for as long as it's been on the market! It's easier to draw in the grid with and we can ONLY use BLACK ink so where does the Infernal Revenue Service come off with this kind of BS?

I have dealt with the IRS professionally on many audits since 1980. The ink story is nuts.

Most of the records are on computer anymore. Log Books as well.

In most Audits, the auditors looks for receipts based on averages. Like in the 250.00 and up. Give them alot of receipts and you get headaches.

actually i have a question about this too.. being in school right now and having to let them know next week what i want to do about pay.. I'm wondering if per diem wouldn't be the better option for me because I've always thought that in order to take deductions at years end, you had to be able to fill out the 1040 long form.. I don't have a house or anything that would even come close to being eligible for the long form. So do truckers get the deduction automatically or do you still have to be able to fill out the long form?

If the members here don't give you a good answer PM me. I have a tax preparer/trucker that did my taxes last 7 years. He answers the phone 7 days a week as he is an O/O.

I mentioned the perdium thing to one of my teachers that said he took his and invested in penny stocks with it.
