This is yet another question that's going to get 100 answers. If you're in an automatic you'll use cruise different than manual. If you haul light or flatland you'll use it more.
It's mixed for me. Like I said above, light and/or flat I use it all the time to keep plantar fasciitis at bay. I've got it pretty bad in my right ankle and foot from having to keep my right foot in the same place for hours all these years.

It's pretty flat on my run.. so I run cruise all the time. I love my Pete which has cruise on the shifter. I drive the truck with those buttons.. up and down speed based on traffic and road conditions, hills etc. I even use it in the (gasp!) snow.

I must have a super comfortable truck because my foot on that accelerator pedal is like putting my feet on Harley-Davidson footrests.
It would be more uncomfortable for me to take my foot off of the pedal actually... -
If you're talking in terms of fuel economy, then using your foot is your best option, unless you are only flatlanding it, then id probably use the cruise.

Thanks y'all for the opinions.... Here's another one I think has been beat around like a redheaded foster child.... Using engine brake do they consume/waste fuel? Or is it just cutting off the fuel ... I know or should I say understand how the system works somewhat

I tried a month without using the cruise. According to my math I saved a grand total of $86 for the month on fuel.
That small of an amount could have been a number of factors. For that little of a difference I use it most of the time , except the bigger rolling hills. -
When do Jakes work? They work when your foot is off the throttle. You have no reason to be both applying throttle and having your Jakes trying to slow down the engine. Your fuel burn rate is zero when your Jakes are on, so injectors aren't even firing fuel. It's just that once the piston compresses the air on the compression stroke, the Jakes open the exhaust valves briefly to let all that air out, and you aren't burning any fuel. So use your Jakes all you want, doesn't affect fuel consumption.
