$191,070.04 after their cut. I do realize I gave them a huge chunk of money but they do actually provide quite a bit. There have been several instances when I'm glad they had my back.
So far for the year I'm averaging $2.07 to the truck after all Landstar expenses, before fuel. That includes my ridiculous $537 a month insurance on a new T-680. I'm fully aware of the difference in running my own numbers. I have also ran with independents a few times on the exact same load, most recently from Nebraska down to Laredo. He argued (in a friendly way) the whole way down about getting my numbers and stop giving away 35%. He showed me his freight bill when we unloaded and he grossed roughly $100 more than me. I asked him about his fuel discount & he started spinning.
When I need a permit I simply get online and print it. If an agent is being stubborn about paying me detention, I make one phone call. I get paid what I'm supposed to get, every week it matches my spreadsheet.
Running my own numbers does sound appealing for various reasons but I don't think the extra headache vs the possibility of more revenue would be worth it. Not saying I'll never give it a go but I'm certainly in no rush.

I know it's different strokes for different folks but you paid landstar over 100k last year and you're bragging about saving just 9k in fuel.
I paid on average 2.30 per gallon before any fuel deductions on my rts card. Rts says .25 is the average. You did about 93k miles so after my deduction that would be about 35k.

If you could keep your rate per mile and production the same with your own numbers you'd be up 60-80k. I'd pop a few asprins for an extra 60-80k.

I check the DAT national average throughout the year and we both know it would be very delusional to think I'd be up 60-80k. I'd be up no doubt, but not enough for ME to pop the amount of aspirin required

You don’t give a penny to landstar, they take their cut before you get a penny.

I have very good success with them, always have but the trucks don’t sit around waiting for work.

I can't do my own numbers. I'm not financially mature enough. I need the weekly settlements.
How does the weekly settlements compare tonweekly factoring?
I don't own a truck just being nosey
