I would not even think of loading a $600 load, unless I can see the destination from where I’m loading.

My situation is a little bit different, I'm unloading in the morning and I was going to deadhead home a little over 300 miles but got offered a load going in the same direction 250 miles paying a little under a thousand...it's supposed to load and unload the same day..
My risk is that I won't get unloaded Friday afternoon and have to spend the weekend at the receiver....or at a nearby truck stop
    Distitions, Distitions....

MT. Especially if that's a full load. You forgot to mention they wanted it tarped! Haha.
When I'm going home, I'm going home!
    I've bounced farther.

I'd spend that day driving home empty and mentally listing all the ways I could make $600/day from home

After 2 scrap loads and 2 punctured tires 15 years ago. I will never take another scrap load. Not even cardboard!
It is tougher for you, restricted to Texas.

Some of you want to sound like filthy rich and scorn at that rate, perhaps for the good of the industry rightfully so.... However, you can still have about $300 - $400 left after fuel and tolls - that's what that little revenue renders in the short term. In the long run, running like that is, of course, a nonsense but taking this load vs pretending to have too much pride is a different aspect. I heard somewhere that half of American population do not have $1000 on hand....
How much Americans have in their savings accounts (cnbc.com)
I gave $20 banknote yesterday to a destitute women at a fuel pump perhaps out of my own vanity to find mercy for her plight. She was really happy, honestly happy - she needed any money bad, and she took off as if afraid that I would change my mind. I will always be thankful for any opportunity to earn a living.

Yeah, that's the other side of the coin. Why not chase a dollar when you get a chance.

In the end, I looked at risk vs reward. If I tear up one tire, I just did the whole load for free. So I'm cutting my losses. I've got an ace in the hole....my decals will probably be here next week. They got mailed this week. That's going to change everything finally.

What does a call girl have to do with a guy asking to deadhead home or take a load? Channeling ur inner x1heavy? Some of us can see thru ur guys BS. But i know ur one of them guys that never haul for less than 15 a mile.... The rest of us just get ur scraps off the floor.... Is what it is.... Rather be a cheap hooker anyways...
