Right, one driver that was fired over that question said, the interviewer said, "We all tried it at one time or another, we all have, it's no big deal." The old buddy-buddy routine tricked him right out of a job.

Honestly the biggest part of the time the first face-to-face interview is done during orientation after you have been tested. It used to be different years ago. If you put no on the application I would say stick with that no!

FELONIES DO NOT STOP YOU FROM GETTING A CDL!!!! PERIOD!!!
IF YOU GET $2500+ YOU CAN GET A LAWYER AND A STATE PARDON!!!
ALSO, DO NOT CONSENT TO CHILD SUPPORT, IF YOU DID ALREADY, CREATE A LETTER STATING YOU WITHDRAW YOUR CONSENT THEN PAY A NOTARY TO WITNESS AND SIGN, MAYBE AT A BANK, BUT BETTER TO FIND AN INDEPENDENT NOTARY...
ALSO, YOU CAN PAY A PERSON WITH A TRUCK TO PRACTICE BACKING UP INSTEAD OF A SCHOOL AND USE OF THEIR TRUCK TO DO THE TEST, MUST HAVE 53FT TRAILER OF SOME KIND, DOESNT MATTER FLATBED OR DRY VAN TRAILER, AUTOMATIC OR STICK...
    JUST GET IT DONE..
HOW DO I KNOW, CAUSE I DID THAT...

When I went to Swift Academy about 5 years ago, one question on the application was," Have you EVER used illegal drugs" I answered," Yes, I smoked marijuana in my teens and early 20's." That was the truth! I was born in 1960 and came of age in the 70's. Anyone in their right mind would have known I was lying if I said no!!!! LOL:biggrin_2559: I wouldn't have said "yeah, up until last week when I decided to go to truck driving school."

I would also add most carriers treat pot and things like hydrocodone differently than the other totally banned substances. If carriers refused to hire drivers simply because they took a toke 75% of trucks on the road today would be parked.

Tennessee does not give road tests. You have to go to a certified school and they pass or fail you. The state only gives you the written tests. Don't know about other places.

I have also never heard of a state pardon. If your crime is federal that sure isn't happening.

You should also learn to use upper and lower case.

The one thing you have not mentioned is being on probation. That is a bigger problem than being a felon. Many companies are adverse to hiring anyone because you are limited on travel, and the probation violations are not hard to violate. If you are ordered not to have alcohol, you can drink a beer and get violated again. You can fail to report on time to your PO and get in trouble. So hopefully all these guys on here that are felons are off probation.
