Hey folks. I am in Modesto, CA & kinda looking at Gordon for when I get out of trucking school. The recruiter sayes "tri state" is fine, as well as I-5 cooridor. What is the tri sate...CA OR, WA?...wich is kinda what I figured the I-5 cooridor is.

they are saying home every sunday, & 1 other day durring the week..wich I think might be a fib...as well as 50G's the 1st year.....wich I am thnking more like mid 30's.

So, are they really a good comany that isn't gonna (without saying it) want me to run illegal (over hours or overwheight.have to speed to make the drop off point on time). What should I expect from them (like layovers, do I load unload or is it really hook & go, pay for expenses promptly), y'all know the routine questions a newb has.

Any other words of wisdon for other trucking companies in central CA? any good ones for a FNG? I would really like to get into heavy haul (even though i herd it can be less income)...because operating Heavy Equipment is really where I wanna go, long term.

    thanks in advance.

As for Gordon, I been with the company for 4 weeks. I run out of the Green Bay, WI in the Midwest fleet, but soon be going west coast. In my time over the road, There is lay-over pay, but you may not see it. They will not let you sit to get lay-over pay. As long you keep up on your Qualcomm box, As soon as you pick up a load and let them know a good estimate on a planned run, when you are to make the delivery, Your name will be in the system and they will already be looking for a load for you. If they have nothing, they will turn to brokers to find you something. Even if it means deadheading you 250 miles to get a load. I have never sat longer the 30-40 minutes waiting for a load. Most cases, you will get a new load assignment before you make your current delivery.!!!! 90% of Gordon is all hook n drop! Out of the remaining 10%...well, they policy is just pay the lumpers, so don't expect very many self unloads!

Thier equipment are well maintain and they pride themselves on drivers who care about the appearance of thier trucks. Keep your truck clean on the inside, washed on the out. Yes, some drivers have been released for the inside of the trucks look like a dumpster.
Right now they are running Frieghtliner Columbia series and phasing out all trucks without an APU. So all drivers will have APU units. In two to three years...the entire fleet will upgraded to Brand new Cascada's.

As for being legal, They stand by it. Period! Weather its logbooks, weight, speed, or just plain safe driving.

The one thing I am not high on with Gordon, all pay is done through a Com Data card. And to have your check tranfered to a bank account may take a extra couple days, but if want to go fatsre, just call the number on the back of the card and authorize a comdata check and place it in your account..its much faster!

Want learn more...Google them and go to thier website and talk to a recuiter

OH...one other great thing...NO running east of Ohio!
