Yea with a felony , some people just see what it says in black an white about a person and automatically judge the person. I say listen to the person's story , then judge them by their current actions, current character and intent towards becoming a better human being by turning their life around. For the OP , hey bro a lot of companies will hire you once you've gotten training. I think i read where your background is like 8 years old. If that's the case time is a big healer. Some companies have restrictions like 3,5,7, and 10 yrs that they won't hire after a conviction. Some they start that after release from incarceration. So 8 yrs behind you helps a lot. Also a lot of companies want to see that you've had a regular license for at least one year and that you've had some stable employment history. Good luck you can do this!!!!!!!!!

OP changed his handle so I missed that he did time for assault. Again context matters. If it was just a fight then fine. If it was like the guy recently in the news for assaulting a old man in a nursing home, then no I wouldn't want to work with him.
Context. -
The Tennessee CDL road test is conducted on streets and requires the driver to demonstrate skill in normal traffic situations such as: turns; intersections; lane changes; stop/start; etc. The road test is described in Section 13 of the Free Tennessee CDL Handbook (Commercial Driver's License Manual).
The three-part skills tests must be scheduled (often more than a week or two ahead). They are given either by a state tester or by a state approved third party tester. Depending on where you live, you will either have to provide a proper vehicle or one will be provided for you. This varies from state to state.
If Tennessee now tests and provides a semi to take your test it's news to me, but then, I took mine back in 2001. -

As for the OP I'm all for giving people second chances. Good luck to you sir. -
I knew a guy who was accused of raping a teenage girl close to 40 years ago. The guy did about 20 years in the Georgia Prison System. Got out and tried to find a job. This girl's father and older brother hounded him everywhere he went. One day while he was trying to work in Athens Georgia they attacked him. His boss also fired him. Then I lost contact with this guy's baby brother who was telling me his story because he went into the Navy. Later on, I discovered this guy shot and killed himself. Then just after I retired this guy's baby brother told me this now 50 something woman recanted and said he did not rape her.
Even if he had raped her I would have done my best to help him. It costs our society tons of money to warehouse people in our nation's prisons. I believe in 2nd chances and have no use whatsoever for people such as yourself that set yourself up as some kind of moral policeman. I just hope to heck someone you love or care about is not justly or unjustly accused of a sex crime. BTW, I know what it feels like because my baby sister was attacked and raped when she was 14! I had to sit in court and watch that smug smile on that guy's face. I then had to come to grips with the FACT hatred hurts the hater MUCH more than the hated! I'm done with you!Professor No-Name and Trucking in Tennessee Thank this. -
First paragraph you say you'd do everything you can to black ball me for not wanting to work with rapist and child molesters but in the last paragraph you say give the rapist and child molesters a second chance. WoW
I too know people who were attacked. A few crimes permanently affects the innocent victim and rape/molestation is one of them.
I am unwilling to sit and judge most pepole.
But I will always be willing to condemn rapist and child molesters. I don't hate them anymore than I hate a rabid dog. In both instances the humane thing to do would be putting them down.
Thank you for being done with me.Last edited: Jan 30, 2021
