Amazon Relay Workers Comp requirement

Solo you don't need it but you can get an occupational health policy for less. Most guys you see with Amazon drives for someone else

 

I've been hauling amazon Relay for about 4 months, exclusively. It's not for everyone, But here are a few reasons I use them instead of a broker.
1. Drop & Hook ( Live loads are available but I haven't seen it be lucrative enough to waste time on)
2. The app, and the check in/ checkout process is nearly seamless. I don't have to deal with crabby shippers/receivers and get ignored in a dock door for hours on end.
3. Our team truck grossed nearly $50 thousand dollars in 1 months time. Added a second solo truck and it's doing well, too.
We don't haul anything for less than $2/mile. No, its not the highest rate but it's not the lowest I've seen owner ops take, either. I'm not saying Amazon doesn't lower rates because they do, but I don't have to take every load they throw on there, just the ones I find worth our time.
I suppose it's a matter of perception. There's always going to be jaded folks out there mad about something that happened. Gotta move on and make tomorrow better than today!

 

Stay away from amazon unless you like 1.30-1.70mi. Bout the same as container money when you crunch the numbers, just less wear and tear compared to the ports. When you see all the pier rats switching to Amazon it should tell you one thing. Run as far and fast as possible. It's a lateral move for those guys switching from cans to amz. Same junk, diff wagon

If you asked Amazon, what did they say? If it wasn’t what you wanted to hear and you posted here to hopefully get the answer you wanted what was your next move going to be? Call them back and say some guy on the internet said I didn’t need it?

Also, when you post something on the internet you will get replies that you don’t want. If you can’t handle that, maybe posting on the internet isn’t for you.

 

Did you have to do anything special for the workers comp exemption or do they automatically know since it’s only 1 truck?

 

I always get a good chuckle when I drive by an Amazon warehouse at delivery hour (or whatever causes this zoo) and see Amazon trucks lined up like they are waiting in line to park for an NFL game or something. I dunno if that is a regular feature of working for them but sometimes seeing what appears to be hundreds of trucks lined up waiting to get into the warehouse I'm like WTF...

(Just piling on since this has become the bag on Amazon thread)
