Indian River Transportin Fl

I had a friend who drove for them twice back in the 80's. Hauled OJ concentrate, pure grain alcohol, milk.

First time he drove a Pete CO with his "shiney 290" it was a front door truck. When he hauled milk it was from Mass. to SEFL. He had to haul ### before it got to warm.

 

Well I just put an application in with them thru their website, so we shall see. I don't have any experience driving tank but they don't appear to require any so I will let you know if I even hear from them...

Experience shows me that most companies wont even get back to you to say "...nope not hiring...."

One question...do they run Teams for their OTR Division..? Any one know...?

 

They hire booth teams or solo drivers.

 

Indian River is famous for keeping their drivers out for a lengthy period. I talked to one of their drivers in Winter Haven at a dairy there and he told me that he had stayed out for 4 months. Their trucks are governed somewhere in the 60s, don't remember the exact speed, but somewhere in the 60s.

Indian River does quite a bit of milk hauling and this involves "hurry up and wait". Also driving a milk tanker is a completely different world. You can screw up real fast. It takes some learning.

 

I drove for them a few years back and still have a friend that drives for them. They do like to keep you out but that is no different than most companies that are involved in then food grade industry. If you live in Florida you can expect to get home more often than most of the other drivers due to the fact that all of their juice comes out of Clewiston, Auberndale, Arcadia and Lake Wales. As far as the milk issue goes it's just like any other tanker product. I've waited over 24 hrs for a load of juice and have reloaded in Carlisle, PA with milk within an hour. It's hit and miss. For now though milk is running hot and heavy out of New Mexico. As far as the trucks go, yes they are governed at 65 but from what my friend tells me they are supposed to be turning them up to about 73. The reason for that is that CAT is making it mandatory due to constantly repairing them because they are not being run in the correct RPM range therefore causing damage to the turbos and other miscellaneous engine parts. They will hire teams. The trucks are 379's and 389's are single bunks. They are adding Freightliner Cascadias and other Petes (387's) to the fleet so I would imagine that they would have double bunks if you are planning on teaming with a friend or relative. Sacred Feline, I would call them and ask for Tracy. She is the recruiter there. Make sure that you ask her about the mileage pay and definitely ask about the fuel/safety bonuses. There have been some things said about changing or even eliminating them altogether. Just looking out for whomever is looking to go there. If you have any questions send them my way. When I worked for them my truck was wide open. In fact most of them were. I worked for Paramarine if that helps. We used to wear out the left lane of I-95.

 

Can you check into if they hire in Brevard County please.
