No I am not NYPD... But I am a federal worker. Yes, my employer is Uncle Sam. Besides, just cause I' not a truck driver. I can't give you my opinion?
I'm not here to start controversy. I was wondering and inquiring about OTR. Is that a crime to find out? It seemed like a fascinating job. Everything I thought about working OTR was not what I read online here. Yes, I've never experienced OTR. But I am human, and I can't stand to see my fellow humans being taken advantage of. That's just me..

Sure, opinions are like anal orifices...

"Fairness" is something that gets doled out by the kindergarten teacher. That's about the last dose you get...

Go ask a GM or Crystler UAW worker how they like unions today... or maybe one of the air traffic controllers...

Well, I appreciate your concern. I really do...

But I have made a decision to get my training and go OTR with Prime as a Company Reefer Driver.

I'm a big boy... I have made the decision... and I will accept the terms and conditions, do my job with a positive attitude, and roll with the punches as they come.

I am looking forward to it... I have never looked forward to a job before like I am now-- never applied for a job that I actually wanted to do. Sounds dumb, but it's true... I can't stand sitting at a desk any longer. :biggrin_2554:

    Good luck man!

It obviously isn't going to be easy... but I am looking forward to it for sure.

As they say, it is what you make of it-- and I'm ready to make it a career that I will not hate doing everyday... as opposed to what I have been doing (and hating) for the past 15 or so years.

    Be safe out there! :biggrin_25525:

Ironpony.. It wasn't the UNIONs fault that the Auto Industry went under. Bad decisions from the top by a bunch of old farts. What were they thinking? Anyone remember the early eighties? I'm sure... The auto industry never learned their lesson back then.. Look at it now... The UNIONS gave the little guy a good paying job and a good pension plus all the benefits. What we see today wasn't the unions' fault. Bad management... Of course the government didn't help either.

Fairness.. You want fairess... Let the little guy dole it out!

I used to call on the Ford, Chrysler, and GM plants. I also was in the Honda plants.
The difference was night and day. I never saw anyone sitting around in the Honda plant, but that is all you saw in the union plants.

It would take thee to 4 union members to go with me to look at one of our units that was under warranty. Just for me, the factory rep, to look at it so I could see if we could replace it for free.

There were janitors making over 100k a year!

Don't talk about something that you know nothing about. I saw it with my own eyes!

I have narrowed it down to Central Refrigerated and Prime.
The main difference that I see, is that the training is much quicker with Central.
Get your cdl in 2 weeks, go solo after 4 weeks.
Is that really enough time to learn all you need to know to be a safe driver?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions!
