Yeah, but the major problem is that spent fuel rods are the "gift that keeps on giving".


Last I heard there were a couple hundred barrels of highly radioactive sodium leftover from the Fermi I disassembly after the near-meltdown in 1965.

They've probably just unloaded all those barrels into the basements of abandoned homes in Detroit's "demilitarized zone".

There's a "task force" trying to figure out how to warn people 10000 years into the future of the radioactive waste danger.

At the Hanford site in WA, I guess they were just gonna put up signs saying "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL A.D. 10,000", then realized the sign wouldn't last that long, and even if it did, the language would have evolved to the point that no one would understand the sign.


It's an interesting subject to delve into while you're waiting for a door assignment.......


As far as the windmills, they could put one next to my house, as long as the lease payment was large enough to be meaningful, and my electricity was provided by them free of charge, as long as the house shall stand in any form or manner, by any technology currently available or yet to be discovered, and unto all my heirs and assigns in perpetuity.
