I think my point was to not waste the Diesel fuel and possibly cause an environmental hazard. But I see your point about the price of fuel, which is mine as well. Save the 5gal. of fuel, don't sell it or waste it, keep it for when you need it and still get the fuel bonus. Course I may be talking out my ##### too.

I am beginning my life as a driver this week. I have been up and down the road before, just been local for awhile.
Can someone refresh my memory on how the shower situation works? Are they still free with fuel fill up? are they even still offered?
thanks for everyones help,
txschwabJustSonny Thanks this. -
Usually 50 gal minimum for a free shower. Get the rewards card from the cashier BEFORE you start fueling. Swipe it at the pump.

While we're on the subject of showers...do I bring my own towels? This isn't covered in the packing thread. I would assume not but have no idea. Are there sinks in the shower area for shaving, brushing your teeth etc. Sorry if those seem obvious, but I've never been in a truck stop before!

Truckstops usually provide towels (or a facsimile thereof), at least at the larger chains. However, I always carry several towels and a number of washcloths in the truck with me for those other times. Shower rooms will have a sink, mirror, and a few missing hooks on the walls.

if you bring your own towels, hang em up inside the truck to dry somehwere, while youre out with a trainer, just suck it up and use the overstarched oversized washcloths they call towels.
1. you can ask for an extra towel if you need it, but they will never offer it.
2. if the shower really was clean, and not wiped down with the wet towel the guy used before you clean, but you can genuinely tell that someone came in between and mopped and wiped it down. leave a buck or two on the counter for the guy doing the scrubbing.
Then when youre out in the big wild world of trucking sports, stop at any of the "Little America" or "Bosselmans" truck stops. Those are the only showers i ever found on the road worth paying for as a company driver.
i wanted to create a rate-a-truck stop guide for truckers by truckers, i think we still should. some really arent worth going to, and theyre the biggest places in the world. And some are worth going to, and youd never know they were there. theres a chain based in walcott that shall remain nameless that i was never impressed with, maybe it was a keeping up with volume issue, i dont know.Trekker1 Thanks this. -
They should have been arrested!

what company is that?
