We have a truck here a 2014 model with D13 engine and it shows poor DEF quality and SCR NOX catalyst efficiency codes, we have cleaned the filter, replaced the DEF injector, replaced the DEF level assembly, replaced the turbo, replaced the EGR valve and cooler, both NOX sensors, all the batteries, thoroughly checked the wiring harness, replaced DPF differential pressure sensor, replaced EGR differential pressure sensor, checked for any exhaust leaks, and we are at a loss of what could be going on. The truck makes one trip and comes back in derate every time. Has anyone else had a situation like this? Also the trucks soot level is usually at 130 percent when he gets back.

replace the truck! I went through almost the exact scenerio. Volvo replaced darn near everything except the engine itself and never fixed the problem. Tens of thousands of wasted dollars replacing parts that never fix the problem. I found one solution, sold the truck! Good luck to ya, I know your pain and wish i had a miracle solution for ya. Have you tested the injectors yet? I hate to even suggest that, since the dealership took 3 tries on my truck to get them right. But, it still didnt solve my problem.

    PLEASE HELP!

I am having the same problem. My mechanic made the forced regen and he found an air leak from a bad clamp. I’ll let you know if that was the problem.

Hey man my truck has the same issue! Dealer was going to charge me up the ### and it turns out it was a software update the truck needed. About $160. The DEF computer and truck computer weren’t communicating with each other which was causing my truck DEF/SCR checkcode to come up on the dash

The dealer should provide you with an invoice that shows the active faults prior to diagnosis. Do you have those details? It sounds like the truck is being treating for symptoms, and not the root cause. Provide the invoice photo or fault codes please.

A lot of dealers follow the outlined process by the manufacturers. A software update should be in the first 1-3 steps. Hourly rate plus a computer fee will tag you for $160 plus easy.
