For paw print? Could be. But I thought they put it in millimeters, just to make it hard. 70 mm is 2.75591 inches. Will they bust them for the 0.00591?

If you being serious about the size of the letters, it's 2 inches. Here is a screenshot of my carrier's memo for our new door signs. Screenshot_20210205-101625_Chrome.jpg

No VIN on my TN truck. Never been pulled in in Colorado and I’ve been there a lot.

Maybe the glare off my plastichrome is confusing them?

Wait a minute...are you guys serious, or messing around?

That's all I have. Nice and simple. I haven't put a truck number on it, but I swear I read you're supposed to have one?

Also units licensed elsewhere and garaged in NJ...A lot of the DOT reviews are conducted by NJ state troopers...other wise I really don't know how they can enforce that but it is in the regulation. Unless the catch a large trucking company's unit leaving the local barn...

Highlights of the Commercial Motor Vehicle Marking Final Rule
    • Eliminates the marking regulations of the former Interstate Commerce Commission.
    • Requires all interstate motor carriers to display the USDOT number.
    • Requires that CMVs be marked with the legal name, or a single trade name, of the business entity that owns or controls the motor carrier operation. This information must match the information on the motor carrier's Form MCS-150
    • The final rule does not require the motor carrier to mark its motor vehicles with the city and state. It does not prohibit this practice
Other information legible from minimum 50' during daylight.
    Minimum height 2.00"
    Must be contrasting color

DO NOT need fire extinguisher inside
    DO NOT need GVWR 80,000
DO NOT need MC# or ICC #
DO NOT need baby on board......

KYU number display is optional unless vehicle is leased and the lessor holds the KYU account. In this case the KYU number must be displayed
NY NJ I don't know as I don't run there nor plan to.
CO requires last 8 of vin if running there.
NM everything tied to USDOT# but you do need an account to pay mileage tax.
OR everything tied to USDOT# but you need an account to pay mileage tax
CA requires state issued #s for vehicles operating ONLY (intrastate) within California. In and out, not required.

Bean Jr., 86scotty and kemosabi49 Thank this.
