Which Knight terminal to work for?

Hey oldnew, give it some time. Everybody is busy driving instead of being on line right now!

I have some time with Knight, but not five years. No way could I have made it that long. However I did run into quite a few guys that had been there for many years. Most of the ones that were happy were on dedicated runs and had not been "messed with" much. But as I said in another post, it has been several years ago.

When I was with them, they wouldn't look at anyone with less than two years verifiable OTR experience. But apparently that has changed.

 

I don't think this is going to happen, as long as there are starved drivers at the entry level to fill the openings left by burnouts.

Trucking used to be a well paying job, as a driver you were compensated for the sacrifices you made to get the job done.

Now days the attitude is that the sacrifeces is part of the job,
"Take it or leave it"

 

Another way to look at your question is, who cares what a 5 year vet with knight is gonna say. becuase it's not gonna apply to you!!! Talk to some squire rookies, oh wait there not making enough money to buy and operate a computer to tell you... Tell ya anything.....

you need experience, and pretty much all of the company's that will give it to you are turds. just try to find the turd that doen't smell the worst. I don't know if it would be knight...

It's been about a week since I posted the above request for responses. I didn't actually ask a question, I just wanted to hear anything from Knight drivers with 5 years with the company. So far, nothing! I did get some responses from drivers who had some time with the company but not 5 years. So, let me relax the request. How about some responses from any Knight drivers who have something GOOD to say about the company.

P.S. I live close to the Gulfport terminal and most of my interest in Knight has something to do with proximity but I'll go anywhere for training.

Finally, some good news! I know all is not well at Knight but I'm thinking that maybe their Squire company is a good place to go for training. Questions: 1) Have you had any contact with drivers who have been through the Squire program and, if so, what did they have to say?, 2) Do you know anyone currently in the Squire program? If so, do you know if any of them read The Forum?, 3) Finally, do you know any Knight drivers who operate primarily out of the Gulfport terminal?
I hate like hell to take up your time so if my questions are out of line, just say so. I'm a big boy now! Also, anything, anything you have to say about this company that could influence my decision to persue them at a prospective employer would be appreciated. Don't worry about turning me off to them. I'll make my decision based on all accumulated information. I've got the luxury of being able to go wherever I want to go (of course, as long as a company shows an interest in me).

I can live on less than that, if necessary, but for the short term only - say about a year. I could live on it for longer than that but I couldn't/wouldn't live with it! If after a year a company doesn't voluntarily give me a raise commensurate with my contribution, oh well, SEE YA!
On the other hand, if they didn't give me a raise maybe I'm not doing the job for them. I don't expect to be God's gift to trucking. So the SEE YA! could come from the company!
