I would put it at the primary. If you’re going to gel up, that’s where it will happen first. BTW, I have a 2WS E Model.PoleCrusher, farmerjohn64, jamespmack and 5 others Thank this.

Ever see Monster start to spin out on an incline and start seeing the tread lugs fly off in the mirror?Nostalgic, beastr123, PoleCrusher and 8 others Thank this.

On my truck, there is a gauge that shows the how well fuel is flowing through the fuel filter. When it gets towards the red, the filter is getting stopped up. This gauge too will let you know when. Had it happen one winter. Filter went from good flow to dangerously stopped up in under 30 minutes. Diesel 911 to the rescue.
Also, I bubble wrapped my primary filter, like @Superhauler spoke about and didn’t have issue again, even in the winter in northern Alberta.beastr123, dwells40, PoleCrusher and 9 others Thank this. -
Actually took 4 plates up, big blue press broke down so only 2 got leveled. Brought these 2 back, and gotta be up there Monday morning to get the other 2. Plus got a extra $200 for setting there a coupons hours yesterday, it was a good day lol.....beastr123, dwells40, PoleCrusher and 11 others Thank this. -
Ha! No but have rolled my hand across the tread on a summer day after running and felt the little pcs of rubber roll in my hand !

When I first got mine built, I ran across that hi rise on 10 in Nawlins during a rain. The rpms went up and it felt as if the clutch was slipping. A piece of rubber would occasionally hit the mirrors. I saw various missing tread lugs missing off the drives.beastr123, PoleCrusher, farmerjohn64 and 6 others Thank this.

Gelling must be more of an issue for you folks that run north-south. I can honestly say the only times I've ever seen gelled fuel was in equipment from overseas that was shipped direct from the port to the north.
Always felt bad for the drivers bringing us new machines in winter. The guys hauling the accessories (stick, boom, counterweights etc) would be unloaded and gone within the hour. The guys hauling the machine itself would be stuck in the yard for at least an extra 2 hours while we had heat on the fuel tanks and swapped out gelled filters.
This was all in addition to removing the jeeps and booster for empty travel as well.beastr123, PoleCrusher, farmerjohn64 and 8 others Thank this. -
About 10 years ago I was following an OS on secondary hwy 831, just south of Waskatenu.
Pilots had traffic stopped top and bottom so the OS could climb the 6% grade out of the valley in the middle. Very light drizzle. As he got into the hill, the tires started screaming, and continued all the way to the top. Those marks in the road took about 3 years to fade.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Tug Toy, beastr123 and 10 others Thank this.
