Still cutting corn... on the last field. Farmers have been cutting like crazy guess they heard of chance of rain on Monday. Guess milo is next if it is dry enough. Cargill is taking corn, milo, beans at same elevator. The line is long because they have to empty the pit so much.
Corn is around 17.5 on this field. Last field avg around 190 not too bad.

Off loaded the cotton in Rock Rapids. Easy on me, the farmer an a helper did it all, which didn't bother me in the least. Picked up the new trailer on Tuesday. Surprisingly its not really any lighter than my old Wilson. Loaded it that night in Fremont, NE at the Hormel plant.. Pork meal. lYuck!!!! Big as they are and I had to drive across town to weight. Took 4weights to get loaded and then back to get paper-work. Heck of a load for a virgin trailer. LOL delivered in Mt Pleasant TX. What a pain. Auger chain jumped off so it took 8.5 hours to off-load. Caused me to miss my next load which I should have gotten before 4pm Wednesday. Ah! Well such is life in Hopper-Land.

This isn't bad work, but yes you will most likely have to "exert yourself " some climbing in and out. I have been on about everything from reefer to heavy haul and heavy is where I love to be but I took this job as a company driver for a small family owned company near home this past summer when my last Heavy haul gig went south as the company went tits up. This is not the best money I've ever made but it is STEADY and I have a real, descent paycheck EVERY week!! ( much better then promises of big payin' loads to come) Can't say that for the last bunch of sad sack so and so's I pulled heavy for. The company I work for now doesn't keep us in fancy new trucks but they keep us runnin', not far from home, and consistantly workin' so in today's economy that's a real thing. I will get back on a heavy and oversize position again someday when the time is right but think that unless something that's just "WOW" comes along this lil' outfit is stuck with me 'till at least next spring.
Pullin' Hopper you WILL
-get dirty,nasty & stinky
-climb in and out of the hoppers.
-love a hot shower asap
-you will get some "EXERCISE"
-Oh and did I say "YOU WILL GET DIRTY!!!"
SO IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE THAT THEN THIS AIN'T FOR YOU!!!!! I grew up on the farm, was taught a LONG time ago that there ain't NO free rides. but if you're willing to work there are some opportunities doing this. the hours suck, but hey that's truckin'. like tonite I'm loading in eastern Nebraska with a load going to Davenport Ia. its now 8pm, my "DELIVERY" app't is right now and I still ain't loaded, and delivery is 6 hours away. but as I said before "thats truckin'" This is a tough time all over, if you have a job and you can pay your bills and deal with the type of B.S. that your company hands out, STICK WITH IT!!!! IT DON'T REALLY MATTER WHAT YOU PULL, OR WHAT YOU HAUL. What matters is that you are makin' a livin' even if its not what you'd really like, don't quit a descent job in times like this lookin' for "GREENER GRASS" "THERE AIN'T NO GREENER GRASS" TAKE MY WORD FOR THAT i'VE BEEN LOOKIN FOR TOOO LONG!!! especially in times like this, be patient, work steady and well, keep your record clean, build good relationships with potential job possibilities for later on, but right here, right now "sit tight and ride" this is the best advice I can give any driver out here right now. the ONLY reason to be changing jobs right now is if the company you pull for right now goes tits up on you. other wise just be thankful you have a job and can pay your bills so stick too it.Last edited: Nov 5, 2009

hey its just me, I was on a roll, but I have to say that it's really how I feel, I see people all the time jumpin' from job to job and gettin' no where, I have done it too, but like I said before in todays deal............ better to sit and ride then jump, jump, jump. and get NO where. It took me most of my career up to now to inbed this fine lil' nugget in the lil' pea I call my brain, and I want others to hopefully learn from my errors.
