    Check with Danny Herman Trucking in Mountain City, TN. Just about 40 miles from Blountville.

    As some members have wrote check out the LTL freight companies such as averitt, central freight/transport, old dominion, estes, R&L, southeastern, aaa cooper, FedEx, yrc and saia.

    You can either get hired as a city P&D or linehaul driver be home daily and have a Monday to Friday schedule.

    Good luck.

    Hello! My name is Erika. I honestly don’t know how to use this website but I need some help! I am 34 years old. Married with one 10 year old son at home. I’m a pretty healthy person. No high blood pressure or heart problems or anything like that. I was thinking of getting my CDL. I live 30 minutes from Chicago. I have no idea what school to go to or what I could even do with a CDL as a beginner. All I know is I’m sick of this crappy public aid health insurance I have that nobody takes and I’m sick of getting under $1000 a month. Yes. I am disabled due to suffering from depression. But that has been under control for the last 10 years. Any pointers for me? What school should I attend? Is this even a good idea? I’m not worried about the money as much as I probably should be. As long as I’m making at least $2500 a month that’s all I feel I need. I don’t have much debt and all I want to be able to afford is a nice house for my family and I and a car that’s not a piece of crap because I only make $800 a month! Anybody with any pointers you can email me at Lucas.erika2010@gmail.com.

    You're in an excellent location for many good trucking jobs.
    Make sure you're not on any medications that are forbidden for truckers. @Moose1958 can advice you on that.
    Be prepared for a hair follicle and urine drug test.
    Other than Chicago, which town are you in or near?

    Right now I’m in Tinley park. I’m also not too far from the Illinois Indiana border.

    You can probably make $80K per year with FFE Transportation.
    @Jenn72
    This would be a team run and FFE can pair you with another woman.
    The plasma account pays the best.
    FFE CDL School is in Burns Harbor, Indiana. Food, Lodging, Transportation to get there is free.

    Tinley Park is only 40 miles from Burns Harbor.
    You can probably live at home during school or commute; ask the school.
    Maybe stay in the school provided lodging during the week so you can study with other students or just go home on weekends when classes aren't in session.

    Omg! You guys are a life saver! Thank you so much to all of you!! Also I had other questions. Do I absolutely HAVE to do OTR? What kinds of things can I do with a CDL? I’m not looking to travel further than Illinois and Indiana just for the sake of my son. Would I be able to take him with me at 10 years of age? He’s home schooled so I don’t have to worry about his schooling. What about my hours each day. What will that be like?

    Since your income is very low, the state of IL probably will pay for private cdl school. Lots of paper work involved.
