Mine is weird because when it tries to regen by itself, it wants to use turbo for some reason, so then it’ll ask for regen and I do it manually and it works fine.

I get a regen like every 2 months or so I’ve been driving with the light on for 2 months now

    77fib77 Thanks this.

It has to get upto 900 F???. So it uses the turbo to generate more heat, via engine getting more fuel and boost ect......

But there is definitely something wrong with mine because when regen starts by itself turbo comes in it cancels the regen so then I have to do it manually. It’s as if egr actuator tells turbo to throw in more boost and then truck detects over boost and cancels the regen. It’s weird I’m thinking my egr valve is sticking.

So I thought I would get back to you on this because I might have figured something out I don't know if your lights still on or not.
I didn't want to dump a lot of money on having mechanics keep looking at it trying to figure it out because they weren't doing any good they just kept charging me money.

I've had that light on since just after 700000 miles I'm just starting to creep over 1.1 million miles.
This last weekend I changed out my wastegate actuator off Turbo because it was leaking air.

And for the 1st time and almost 400000 miles that light finally went off.
Something you may want to consider looking at

Thank you for the reply brother! Unfortunately yes I do have the light on still.

    It comes and goes.
I drive with it like that.

    thank you for the info!

By the way, what was the cost of replacing the wastegate actuator?

I replied this earlier but for some reason it didn't post
I bought the actuator on eBay for a $100 it was used but It had been tested.
I tried to buy a brand new but I think freightliner wants to sell me the whole #### Turbo. Because they weren't able to find the wastegate actuator.
Anyway I had to buy 2 gaskets for the oil lines because I had to remove them to be able to get My hand behind the Turbo. Took me about 3 hours.
So total about a $120 And 3 hours of my time

I've been riding with this light for a long time now. Interestingly, it' only comes on in the lowlands, below 2000 feet. When I'm running in Nevada/utah/WY where I usually run it stays off. So probably a pressure sensor is slightly out of adjustment

I had mine on for 400,000 miles then one day I heard a air leak coming from my wastegate actuator I took it off you can take it off without removing the Turbo. Well it was damaged you could visibly tell it was loose and falling apart I put the new one on drove about 200 miles light went off never came back that was about 50,000 miles ago.
When I took it to the shop and when you look at the procedure of steps to follow this isn't even mentioned it was just happy Coincidence

I just had the same issue as you and same truck and year. Mechanics told me to change turbo, which I did, but that didn’t fix my problem. I ended up replacing the turbo pressure valve (VPod), and my problem was solved. Paid so much for deferent mechanics to find the problem but no one did. VPod was about $400. Hope that fixes your problem
