My truck is going to be registered for 63,500kg in AB Canada (140,000 lbs), was wondering what states allow flatbed Super-B configurations. Tandem axle truck, tridem lead trailer and tandem pup. Looking at crossing the border using the spot market if possible. Also are the weights still generally limited to 80,000 lbs for those states?
What states allow flatbed 8 axle Super-B?

I THINK you can still register at 167K lbs in Michigan
DaytonTD Thanks this. -
You for the most part are going to be limited to the northern western states and each state is going to vary on weight - as the laws will be state level versus a federal rule. OR WA ID UT MT(I believe) SD and ND is going to be it. In OR and WA you likely to be limited to 105,500 gross.
You can check state by state up there for the exact weight based on your axle spacings.
MI is it’s own animal and your entry would likely have to be from the Canadian side - not east through IL and INIsafarmboy, 650cat425, cke and 2 others Thank this. -
Thanks I was going to get a step deck initially but ended up with super-b at auction. The plan is to start with it then sell it and buy a new step deck eventually. I just recently learned that I can actually take my super-b into some states which works out good until I can get a step deck.

WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, ND & MI. All recognize B-trains but not with Canadian weights; the GVW and axle limits vary from State to State.
WA, OR & ID allow you to register your truck for 105,500LBS. MT & ND are much higher.
OR & ID require “excess weight” permits to validate your higher GVW rating. Without this permit, you’re deemed to be maxed at 80,000 still. (Showing them your cab card at 105,500 is meaningless).
Utah requires an over 80,000 permit as well. Not sure what the max GVW is there, but I do see lots of guys there from Alberta with B-trains. -
Good information thank you650cat425, cke and Phantom Trucker Thank this.

I learned this the hard was in Oregon. Best part is you have to go through a third party to buy your extended weight permit to make your cab card weight valid. Although the permit to get to 86000 is only 8 bucks a year.DaytonTD and Phantom Trucker Thank this.

I learned the hard way as well. Inkom, ID Port of Entry gave me the red light and broke the news to me. Thankfully they let me buy the permit and carry on. He explained to me that he could nail me for every pound I was over 80,000. (I was 85 and change).
