Does anyone know the proper torque specs for the rod and main bearings on a 3406B? I bought a CD form of the shop manual but can't find it.

Anyone know the oil pan torque?

I think this is correct... At least I found it in multiple sources

    CAT 3406 Main Bearing Bolts
    Step 1 = 190 lb.ft, 260 Nm
    Step 2 = plus 120 degrees

    CAT 3406 Connecting Rod Bolts
    Step 1 = 60 lb.ft, 80 Nm
    Step 2 = plus 120 degrees

    Thank you

Just wanted to post an update.

Rolled in new bearings last week. Started my truck and still had slightly low oil pressure (around 22PSI at idle).

Decided to go ahead an install my new 177148 turbo. When I pulled off the old turbo, I discovered a bunch of oil coming out of the turbo and all inside the intake pipe. I assume some of my white smoke issue is from oil going in the intake.

After replacing the turbo my oil pressure increased. It is at a solid 30PSI @ 190 degrees.

I'm still getting some white smoke and a decent bit of blow by. It did seem to improve as I drove the truck around my neighborhood. I've only put about 10 miles on the truck so far. I'm still concerned with the blow by but hopefully it will improve with driving it more.

    Gilbyson and 650cat425 Thank this.
