It's like getting up to CT or MA.
    Where are the loads out?

Or, are there any truck stops within miles where I can spend the night, or two?
Walmart for some food, or to stay for the night?
Those are the things I search for with my GPS before I accept that kind of load.
If I can't be certain of where I will stay that night, or where I can get food... the deal is off.

Getting the load there is NOT the most important thing to me.
The most important thing to me is what happens just after I deliver that load.

Huron, SD tonight at a little place in the middle of nowhere.

I'm on a load to the Walmart DC in Cheyenne, WY, and I haven't been around there for some time.
It is just outside my region, but I took it just to see something different.
Over 800 miles from Perham, MN so it is a decent load. And light at under 10k - potato chips. That should help my mileage a bit.
Most of that 800+ miles is all back roads, with only about 100 miles on the interstates.

Then I got a pplan picking up at the Lowe's DC going to NM.
I turned it down with the reason "Not my region".
It was removed, but the planner sent a message as well...
    Question, "Not my region."?
Must be a new person not to have noticed I run GLR.

    FerrissWheel and dptrucker Thank this.

Hyannis, NE, and lucky to be here.

I was going for a place a ways back, but with the snow I didn't see how to get in.
The place looked deserted as well.
After I reset my GPS I found I missed a turn back there and no place to turn around, so it is an alternate route.

And the snow had set in so it was slower going. The GPS showed no place to stop until Ogallala.
At the next turn, here, there is a small little place with parking.
Good thing too, because that road I was turning on to was even worse than the last.
75 miles to Ogallala, on my way to Cheyenne, with a fuel stop in Sydney.
Hopefully a Walmart stop as well. I am pretty much out of food.

If I can get out of here tomorrow.
I may have to backtrack 65 miles if the only road they are plowing is the one I came in on.

    dptrucker and FerrissWheel Thank this.

As a mentor in the flatbed division I only have the right to refuse loads on the premisis of either saftey or impossibility. Though I can refuse any and all dry van loads. A solo driver has more ability to turn down loads.

That being said im usually compensated for the usual pile of ****. When it happens, like grabbing 3 loads out of LA and dropping them in a yard or something.

That being said out of new england is usually a brokered load or container out of NJ going to Long beach. And most of the loads ive pulled out of new england have always proved interesting. Including the 14high induction coils for a steel furnace out of NJ on a stepdeck, and the spaceX load. Ive never had a problem getting out of new england in reefer or flatbed.

Gary IN, probably move closer tomorrow to Goshen IN. It was 9 degrees in MO this morning.

Ive been busy with other things and didn't want to team this load for Delivery today. 6 stops total on way to ME. Its a wide open window on the stops anyway.

Its about to get even more different, but news on that later, good grief has it been interesting getting everything set up in the background for what im about to do. Progress has been made, but 10,000 pita things along the way.

But in flatbed division often im literally the only truck that can cover any given load in the first place. Solo drivers get force dispatched in those circumstances too. And running like a good 2/3rds of the year in team status im one of the few repower and recovery options.

Thank gods thats about to not be the case. Ive got no complaints but I won't miss it at all. Ive enjoyed it all. But stick a fork in me im nearly done.

    dptrucker and Moosetek13 Thank this.
