Ya they were in and out of the office today Steve with meetings and when they weren't in meetings they were on the phone or paying attention to me as I was in there talking to the girls for a wee while. Good luck with everything when you do come here. It'll be a great decision if you get in.
And thanks for reminding me to change my status! I'll do it when I'm on the road as I'm not officially a trucker yet!![]()

Matt,
Congratulations on the CDL and truck. Your thread was very well done and a great read. I will be going to WS in December for the 10 day class. Hope to see you around.
Steve -

if you cant pm me you can email it to Alan_obe@hotmail.com agian thanks -
Maybe the list could be posted here for all to see....I'm trying to get there in the next month or 2 and I know I'd appreciate seeing it

I dont have the list on me guys it's on my home computer so when I do finally get home, I'll post it up for you. It's pretty simple stuff. All of your paperwork and ID documents, warm clothes (depending on year) couple pair of gloves, basic tools a good attitude (like how I threw that in there? lol) and a few other things that I can't really think of atm. So I'll give you the full list of what I was given when I get home.

ok thank you very much

Ok, so I finally got to speak with Roxy today. She is so friendly and helpful. If this is the kind of people employed company-wide at WS, I will be very happy there.
She went over everything with me and asked if I would be interested in the training that starts Nov. 30. This was too soon for me as I won't have the money from my severance until then so I requested late December or January and she said that's fine. She went over all the stuff I needed to know and will email me a package of info. Does anyone know how long it takes her to email that stuff out? It's been a couple hours now and no email yet...
I need to get my physical and permits in to her then she will forward my app to the Safety dept.
Fingers crossed that all will go well....
Thanks again to all the helpful students/drivers that have kept us updated.
Stay safe out there...
Warp, aka Steve -
Hey Warp. Roxy really is a great example of the type of people at Watkins Shepard. She's the first person you talk to and what a great first impression I got when I spoke with her. Yes, the rest of the company is just as great and I haven't had a complaint about anyone working here yet. Of course, I get along with just about anyone, so maybe I don't count? lol. The only people I've really come across that had "sharp" attitudes were some of the drivers. I always give them the benefit of the doubt and say they're probably tired or whatever. But that's only 1% of them. Every other driver is super friendly and overall great people. I'm sure you'll do fine.
Since it's not until December or January that you'll be starting, just be patient. Once the time comes and Roxy's finalizing everything for you, trust me, she'll make sure you have everything you need. Until then, you can call or email her. Again, just keep in mind the poor woman is usually slammed.
Best of luck Warp, and feel free to PM me anytime -
Thanks Lynchmob....I would email her, but as she hasn't sent my packet yet, I have no email address for her. I am willing to give her some time as I know she is extremely busy all the time. I just want to have the medical form so I can go ahead and make my appt for my physical with my doctor. I'd love to PM you, but I don't have nearly enough posts if it still stands at 50 to be able to PM, but you seem very reachable here.
One thing she did say is that if someone is willing to run east that the miles are usually there, as a lot of guys like to stay out west. I'm willing to go wherever, whenever to get miles.
Oh, one more thing...I happened to take a drive this morning by the Santa Fe Springs terminal....a few really old shabby looking daycabs there. Hopefully those are on the way out. Roxy did say that all the equipment is late model Freightshakers and Volvos with stand up sleepers, so that's a good thing.
Stay safe everyone -
Right, she's gotta send you an email address before you can return one. lol
If you looked in the back of the SFS terminal's you would have seen the road trucks. Those day cabs are local trucks. The oldest of the trucks are 05? or 06? Freighty's and 06 Volvo's and up. So by the time you get here, you'll have a decent truck with a full condo on it.
