The MX is actually a good motor, despite popular opinion. The problems come from them being marketed primarily to large fleets. The programming is dialed way back from where it should be, and then it gets choked by CARB and EPA, so it can't run.
An engine that is underpowered for the job it was hired to do, will struggle, burning much more fuel than an engine that has the muscle to get it done.
Honestly, for your application, you would be much better served by either trading the truck in for one with an X15 performance, or figuring out a full delete. If you choose the latter option, just make sure you will always have someone available that can fix anything on it, because no dealer will touch it without first bringing it back to factory, at your expense.

I'm definitely happy with it so far. I see alot of guys talk about once deleted they run really really well.
It'll get a full delete once paccar has closed the case on finding out what's causing this specific issue. And my guy that does the deletes works for the dealer so finding a mechanic to work on it shouldn't be an issue. All the oem parts will go in my shop, the dpf can and oem ecm will be ready to bolt back on in an afternoon should it have to be put back on for any reason.
Also these sales reps spec these trucks out with 2.80 rears on the autos when they should have 3.55s or there about. Itd make a world of difference.singlescrewshaker, Brettj3876, 650cat425 and 6 others Thank this. -
