Soooooooo...I was westbound on the WK parkway in Kentucky and I was running about 72 MPH on criuse control when I came up on a white Volvo pulling a National Carriers reefer. (I'll not mention truck numbers here 'cause I'm not a rat!) We were just about to crest a hill when I passed him the first time, I got abou 3/4 of the way passed him when we went over the top of the hill and he started picking up speed and passed me back...OK, No problem!

He gets to flat ground and settles in at around 65 and then we then start to climb again (I'm still on C/C) Same thing happens again...

We repeated this a couple more times when I finally got tired of his game and kicked it up to a speed he couldn't match and went on about my business.

So here's where it gets funny/pathetic or stupid depending on your perspective. I decided to take a leak at the service plaza near the 75 mile stick so I slowed down and started to get off when here comes Butt stain in his Volvo passes me and cuts in short forcing me to move left very quickly to avoid getting Volvo all over my Kenworth!

    OK kids...Here we go!

If you drive a governed company truck and someone that doesn't drive a governed company truck passes you, Don't take it personally! It can't be helped, His truck goes faster than yours when he wants it to...Live with it!

Don't show your I.Q. by coming on the radio and saying you'll wait for me at the next exit so I can beat you sensless for having a slow truck and no brain...I'm not interested in getting in a fist fight because you hate your life!

I am on the other hand highly amused by your inability to handle insignificant issues that you encounter in your day to day pursuit of misery and aggravation over things you have no control over. I got to listen to you whining about it for the next 50 miles ( By the way, You never did stop at the next exit...Big surprise)

I have but one question...What is wrong with you people????

aaaahhhh this is one of my pet peeves. My truck isn't goverened either, so I've had to deal with the same thing as you many times. I usually leave them in the dust (especially when its just an empty skateboard behind me) but laugh my butt off when we hit a construction zone and Mr. Stupid decides to take that opportunity to speed like heck to catch up to me again and ride my butt.

I also love it when you are going downhill and come up on a truck that's going a lot slower and just as you are almost past them they decide to start speeding up too. My most recent happening involved some flat foreheaded knuckledragger in a Marten truck (looked like an outhouse was dumped on him but that's another story). To heck with them...wind it up and see how much they can take before they are shaking like a leaf and squeezing bacon strips into their pants!!

Have you noticed it rarely seems to be the flatbedders, cattle haulers, or tanker guys doing this ####? For me its always the driver mill dummies with teeth that look like they can eat corn on the cob through a chain link fence, or the local gravel haulers in whatever area you're driving in. durr, me haul rocks from A to B, duurrrr...me not responsible for broken windshields...no clean off rocks, durrrrrr...me wear gloves so don't scrape knuckle, durrrr.

My truck is governed at 70, but I drive 62. If another truck is slowly passing me and there is traffic, I'll slow a bit to let him get ahead. It's not like i'm losing any time by slowing down for 30 seconds. And vice versa, if I'm slowly passing a truck I can speed up to 70 to get it over with.

Never bothered me I was used to getting passed all the time. The only thing I hated was being light and getting stuck behind a heavy truck that can haul ### once they get over the hill. So I pass them going up the hill and they pass me coming down and on the flat and then I get stuck behind them again going up the next hill lol.

It happens. Different weights, different governed speeds, steep grades. Sometimes there's a lot of back and forth passing.

If there's a lot of traffic, sometimes I'll just slow down if I'm going to be stuck out in the hammer lane at 65 for an unreasonable amount of time trying to pass. However, it seems like it would be stressful being angry all day at slow pokes in the hammer lane.

My CB is usually off so I don't hear about it. But I can tell by the way a lot of these guys are driving that they are about to blow a mental gasket when someone gets in their way. I'd rather just go slower and concentrate on my audiobooks and podcasts.

I just had this happen with a Werner driver this morning. I'm obviously goverened higher, by a good clip. I passed him in the flats and left him for dust. Looked like a very young driver.

Well, we get into hill country and I'm obviously loaded heavier, and Werner catches up. Well, he manages to get right next to me, and we flatten out again. We went for miles like this, with him next to me. I'm not wanting to slow down on the hills any more than I have to, and he's bound and determined to pass me. We finally get on the flats and he gets MAD because I passed him again, until we get back into the hills. Well, he gets a good enough run up that just at the top, he cuts right over and I have to hit the brakes HARD. I figured I wouldn't let it get to me, because my exit was 1/2 mile up. Wow, guess who else gets off there. All that retarded action from him, and he could have just stayed right behind me. for the exit.

I usually when driving up hill in a 65-68 MPH truck and another truck starts to pass then hasn't got the gonads to make the pass and starts to sit next to me I'll tap off the cruise and let him get on by me as he'll make the pass on level ground. A few extra seconds doesn't bother me and you won't loose that much lee way going up a hill as I know when I get to where I plan to be inside of my plan! (30 years of experience tells me so!) These children who get all upset with getting passed by a lighter truck going up hill then making the pass back on level ground or "don't want to slow down" are the ones you'll see sitting out of a job sometime after CSA2010 come into effect! Just think of what could happen by being stupidly stubborn and not letting a driver get on around you! What did 3 seconds off the cruise cost you?

As to some MORON tailgating you there are two ways (actually 3) to get said idiot off your six!.
One) slow down to the POSTED minimum speed of the road you are on and force him to pass you.
Two) get off at an exit go through the stop sign and get back on and keep on going. Lost time what 30 seconds to a minute?
Three) PICTURES/VIDEOS and send them to said fools company! Especially if they do stupid things like try to cut you off or hit the brakes! This will hopefully get this dangerous moron off the road and back at MickeyDees where he belongs!

This next paragraph is for those of you who "HAVE to go due to a dispatcher telling them "It's hot, got's to go, blagh blagh blagh!

When you do your trip planning I KNOW you have accounted for at least 30 minutes of slow downs, due to traffic and other unknowns and I count such TRIVIAL things as tailgaters and idiots are TRIVIAL along with my fixes for them! And do not tell me you can't put an extra 30 minutes into your trip plan! YOU ARE the one behind the wheel and in control of the load! If you are so afraid of some college boy/girl sitting behind a computer telling YOU THE DRIVER who, what and where and how you'll do your job then it's time to TRAIN said college boy exactly where that higher center of education screwed up and did NOT require him to take PREVENTATIVE MANAGEMENT! (It's a no credit 3 hour course that should be mandatory for anyone taking a MBA or BA!) Tell him you'll gladly have his butt come out and drive the truck to make his schedule but as you're aware the only thing most dispatchers know about trucking is if a flatbed is loaded!

Besides if you don't use that 30 minutes then it just slides over to the next day AND you're 30 minutes ahead of your schedule! You really do not loose that much time to be safe and to stay safe by letting morons get around you and in front of you where you can watch them screw up again in the next few miles! (think entertainment value) Besides, He's going to pass you at least 3 more times that day as, as fast as he wants to go he has to stop more often thinking he's getting there faster!

peterbuilt drivers tend to take extreme offense the most whenever i'm passing them in a volvo. i've had richard craniums purposely try scaring me into the ditch, only for them to realize i wasn't budging, and then they almost over correct and send themselves into the right shoulder's ditch, or almost scrape the guardrail and/or concrete barrier. then they get on the cb to shout all kinds of profanity at me. i don't respond. i just keep driving, leaving them behind.
