One emissions problem can be $15,000.
On top of that it's nothing to put $10,000 into an older truck. That should just be expected and go without saying.
So that could easily be $50,000 in the blink of an eye... If everything else holds up and you have no other problems.
Those years of trucks are notorius for emissions problems.
And I would also say even for local work get a sleeper even if it's a small sleeper. Your plans may change you may need to go farther or you may just want to be more comfortable and take a nap once in awhile.
You could not pay me enough to have a day cab.shooter19802003 and 201 Thank this. -
I agree with Dino Saur, if you are buying a truck, do it once and be done with it. A sleeper doesn't add that much length or weight, and is mighty handy. I did local stuff with a Columbia, and got around just fine. I'm a KW or Pete guy, mainly because I think they are just better cared for, and something a lot don't think about, they have better resale. An old Volvo or Freightliner is practically worthless. Pete and KW seem to have better dealers too. The only advantage with a dealer, is some kind of warranty, that is also practically worthless down the line. Don't get me wrong, Volvo is okay, but I'd a step up. Plenty of KWhoppers out there.Good luck.

Thank you, I’ll check that out!

Just remember this, just because it has 3xx,xxx or any low miles on the clock, it doesn’t mean it is going to do well.
get a dyno and blowby test to see what condition the engine is in and do a fluid analysis.
