I was talking about the ar. Thats the recoil he was referring to if I read the post correctly. The 300 would be his bolt action. Correct?

 

You might be mistaken .223/5.56 is still a .22 caliber bullet. .300 win mag is a .30 cal bullet in a much larger casing with a lot more powder.

 

And the ar is what he was referring to with the bolt sliding back to chamber the next round... is an ar not a 5.56??

 

JMO, I think the best way is to start with a quality air rifle and sights. Thats for people that want to learn marksmanship. Because then it's all about the shooter and the rifle. There is no magic ammunition, secret powder, or hopped up optics.

Plus, you can shoot all day for cheap, on a range you can build in your basement.

 

He has an AR-10, not a AR-15.

 

A .22 is a way different animal than a 5.56.

 

I stand corrected then. My apologies, Pole. Seems everyone and their brother says ar and means ar15.

 

Agreed. You can get a really good 22 caliber air rifle and if wanted a scope. Traps are easy to build.
