Randy is the ONLY one at that shop that knows what he is doing. He has his own room in the back with his own equipment setup that nobody else is allowed in their to use cause he locks it up when he is not there. The rest of the guys in there will hack your radio into a mess. Clipping limiters and such is how they peak and tune. I'm really surprised Randy will even work out of there and be associated with them.

Steelrod is pretty good at exit 201 on I-65 behind the KFC. There is also a small shop in Redkey,IN which is not far from you if your in Anderson but I can't remember the name of it. They do good work though.

Are you talking about I-65 in Alabama? KFC is at exit 205 and I didn't know there was a CB shop back there.

Thanks for all the come backs guys, a good friend of mine that drives turned me on to a shop that he has been using for years in Elwood In. . I went with him today to get his radio looked at the guy found a bad solder joint and peaked and tuned it for 25 bucks, dead keyed at 6 and swung to 12, this a regular shop and has been at the same location for many years, close to me and his lay out was impresive,

He is correct. Randy is a tall slender geeky techie with grey hair. He kinda looks like Doc from Back to the Future. Anyway, he is the man you want for the job. He's been in the electronics business for a very long time, use to repair soundboards and such for David Letterman and if you do go back to an old episode of The Late Show, you might spot Randy on the screen when Dave talks to him.

If you see a mid 90's white Plymouth Voyager in front of the shop, Randy is there. If the CB shop is closed and Randy is there, he may not want to be bothered and could be there on his own time to work on radios to stay caught up. He's very busy and does a lot of work for drivers that send him their equipment from across the country fed ex. You will expect to be waiting 2-3 weeks for him to completely overhaul your radio into a peak machine with crystal clear clarity. He will recommend you buy a Paradynamics external speaker, as they are cheap and probably one of thee best external cb speakers on the market.

I had Randy do the Premium peak and tune which included modifying the conex board already in my radio from another shop I would recommend you don't enter. He replaced most of the (factory) plastic resistors with ceramic resistors that are used in high end professional equipment such as Nasa computers and instruments. He also will replace your finals with the biggest one the radio can handle and changes out some of the capacitors with bigger ones to provide the necessary volts for the upgrade. After the job was done, he tested it and it came out to exactly 50 watts over the stock 8 watts. He did a fantastic job, rewired the entire board and re organised it. With the little room inside my radio had, he had to remove the internal speaker to make room for all the moding he did, so you will need and external speaker for your radio depending on the radio. I bought a Paradynamic speaker and I'm pleased to say that my radio kicks ### for a small radio along with the impressive sound quality of the Paradynamics external speaker. The job was less than $100 and I'm buying a Galaxy DX 959 tomorrow and going to ship it to Randy to have him overhaul it as well. He's very intelligent and with all the drivers, cb fanatics that bring him work, he gets the job done very quickly and guarantees his work.
JUST, DO NOT LET ANYONE ELSE "BUT RANDY" WORK ON YOUR RADIO. The skinhead with the earrings that drives the dodge ram and mercedes is Kevin, he is the shop co owner. If Randy isn't there, leave your radio with Kevin and he will make sure Randy works on it and no ones else!
