Where are they making the genuine old ones these days? Pretty sure the Interstate McBee new heads are cast in India, that's just what I've dealt with though.

I bought one of those generators a few years ago too. Got it home and the thing would never run so I took it back before the hilarious 30 day warranty was up. Apparently they thought that it might just last 30 days, haha, wrong.

It was a copy of one of those quiet honda generators but at about 1/4 the price and much much quieter too because it wouldn't even start up.

Besides the issues already noted. I'd be hesitant to deal with something like this due to parts availability. I had a chance back in the 80's to buy a German BMW, brand new (I was living there), do a few tweaks to get it conform with US mandated safety stuff and ship to the US. It was still significantly cheaper than buying a US spec BMW. However, if I needed a part in the US, it could turn into a real hassle to get part from Germany because it wasn't available in the US.
    Just something else to consider.

You get what you pay for. China should stick to making sneakers and crappy action figures/dolls. Leave anything else to the big boys.

It's a little difficult to call out somebodys bs when they're overseas, and it doesn't matter which country it is either.

    650cat425 and Ruthless Thank this.

One of the trucks I used to maintain had a 900A National crane mounted on it.
On the rotation bearing it said "SKF Rotec Made In China".
Part of the company service was to use a dial indicator and measure the play in the bearing. It was at .040" when new. Its 12 years old now and the bearing still has less than .050" movement.
