I'd be pretty happy too, what do you figure he is making, $0.43 a mile? throw in a few tarp jobs and that's $2000 a week. -
Carter how are things with TMC and you lately? -
last 2 paychecks: $450, $632
next week's paycheck: ~$450 -
I Have been staying quite and not saying much on this one but I have been driving with TMC now for about a month and a half. I came in as an exp. driver and my pay hasn't been bad. I have brought home over 700$ a week and been home every weekend. Now with that said a couple weekends were only 10 to 12 hour visits. That due to where I live and load planners that like for me to be 500 miles from home on Fri and give me a load that Del. about 500 away on Mon. that causes me to follow same route i came home on to make Del.
TMC has been an OK place for me other then a few of there dumb polices, and poor load planning. And a few of the times I know i got load planned dumb because my FM knows I don't wanna run the north east and has been trying to keep me away. So I take what I get and know that I could have gotten better if I had been willing to go where I didn't wanna go.
The main issue I have is there crazy routing and following the fuel stops. The other is the truck wash deal. It kills me to waste money on a wash when it is pouring rain. It has rained on me for 2 weeks but the truck still had to be washed in the rain. The other thing I wish we had back is E-Z pass don't care about pre-pass I just hate keeping up with the toll ####.
Thats my 2 cents, It is a job and like any job It has it's moments that make you wanna scream. But I just go with the flow and try not to let the little things bum me out and take all the talk in stride to. Drivers are drivers and alot of times we blow #### up just to vent and make ourselves feel better. So I don't let the little #### get to me.
My truck has issues, but nothing that will make it unsafe. My check engine light has been on since I got it. was in the shop for it and came on 50 miles after i left. I ignore it now, they had there chance to fix that, now it can wait for a full service, I'm out to make money not sit and wait for small things to get fixed that were supposed to be fixed when I left in it. I also use about 2 gal. of coolant a week and have not been able to find a leak yet. It wont even leave a wet spot when you park it and no visable signs of a leak under the hood. All i can think is it is going out the stacks. my drivers window quit working last week but I am only 4000 miles from a service and can tough it out till then. all I am saying is You get what you make out of it, and thats the way it is with any thing.
Now as far as not being there before all the changes, I wasn't and I will agree the ones that were got the shaft, especially the pay cut. Guess that would have done me in to. I had a driver tell me the other day who had been with them 10 years, he didn't like the pay cut but at least he still had a job. I guess I'm like him I am just happy to be working and paying my bills. If something better came along would I do it. In a heart beat, But we all have to do what is best for us. Sorry so long but I had to let it out, I feel better now thanks. Later all I'm out Hicksie -
Heck I was working for a company and they were still booking freight and then bam.
They closed the doors.
You never know when it can happen -

Well, I have found that most of what happens with the "they are going under" talk is just CB Talk. The only thing I heard about TMC was them slowing their trucks down to 62 MPH and how all of the drivers were going to rebel and park their trucks, and they were putting a cap on cents per mile for experienced drivers. I tend to look at the entire situation and the economy. First, alot of companies are cutting back the truck speeds. Stand by, it's comming to a trucking company near you. This reduces insurance, liability and fuel consumption. Capping the pay is even more common. KLLM where I work has done it. So have several other companies. There is so much CB talk going around today that you don't know who to believe anymore. Hell, just drive it till they tell you to park it. Then you'll know for sure. Two TMC trucks just went by after fueling here at this truck stop and they were loaded down. So freight is slow, but it's still going somewhere. Hang on for the ride.
