Unless the warranty is directly from the manufacturer itself (ie Cummins, Paccar, Eaton etc) then its a waste of money.

Check with other dealers. Why limit yourself to just three? You never know when you might come across just what you're looking for.
Are you buying new or used?
Remember one thing...You don't have to buy, the dealer has to sell. They'll act like they're doing you a big favor to sell you a truck when just the opposite is true.
Get the thirteen speed and at least five hundred horses.
Let us know how you make out.

People do it all the time and if driven right the surge won't be anything a good driver can't handle.

When I bought my new T680 2 and a half years ago I was also looking for a 13 speed. But at that time new trucks were flying off the lots and it was going to take at least 6 months to order a new one. So I reluctantly settled for a 12 speed automatic, and it changed my mind regarding autos. I do a lot of hill climbing with heavy loads in the west, and spend most of that time in manual mode paddle shifting, and it's been great. My old clutch knee thanks me every day for making the change. I haven't had a single problem with this truck with almost 200,000 miles on it.

I would say getting a truck that fits the job is more important than where you get it.

Figure you are talking used since you asked about warranty. Honestly it is a roll of the dice. Even if truck is under warranty the down time can kill a one truck operation.
