In Missouri it's a 4 week course. Funny thing is, even the Instructors are saying it should be a 6 week course.

I'm in Texas and trying to figure out whic school or company training program to go with. Which school did you end up with that was $4995? I had a recruiter from Roadmasters call me with the same info on pricing you just mentioned above. It was $6495+800+ for a motel room + all the other fees. It's going to be over $8000!!! And that, according to what I have read so far on this and other forums has been called out by those in the know as way too much money.

Hazmat is a different creature within one's CDL. Not everyone will acquire the HME for varying reasons: foriegn national, felony, drugs, etc... However, I do agree that for the proper candidates, the HME should be a part of the tuition costs. After all, who has an extra $95.00 in their pockets while they are going through school?

I am going to school on the dimes of my future grandchildren. WIA. I asked about getting my HME funding paid for through the program and it was approved. Perhaps a minor stroke of genius at an opportune moment...

I am attending Roadmaster, SATX. A four week course, which makes me wonder how Floyd did it in three? My understanding is that 160 hrs is the minimum any potential employer requires, ala 4 weeks.

I am just going to say that i know of a guy that went to a trucking school that did not have a good reputation with the better trucking companys and could not find a job even after he graduated and got his CDL from the school and had to go through another school with a good reputation just so he could a job.

Keep in mind the the econimy is in bad shape and the trucking companys worth working for are only hiring students from schools with a good reputation.

the first school he went to they guaranteed a CDL (licence mill) and he paid a few thousand dollars for a four week class but could not find a job, So he had to go to this other school (which he had a hard time getting through because the licence mill he went to first was not that good of a school) just to get a diploma and only had to pay less then eight hurndred dollars for an eight week class.

You just disappointed the students at NTI school near Jacksonville. There was not even one prehired student there. You had a choice of seven companies. The school tuition is less than $4000. Maybe that is why no prehired offers.
Good luck and keep that good attitude.

Roadmaster's pre-hire is low. Very Low down here in Florida, Tampa area. Florida is the worst state for inexperience trucker..

    Also here there schedule are:
    Full Time: 7am - 6pm
    3 weeks
    1-3 week Mon-Fri
    2 week Mon-Fri

    Nights:
    4 weeks
    Mon-Fri 6pm-12am
    Sun 7am-6pm

    Weekends:
    Sat-Sun 7am-6pm

Also why pay for the schooling, when you can get it thru a Government WIA [Workforce Investment Act] program Grant? It covers All the expenses for Roadmaster or another schooling. 5k worth and you won't have to pay anything back. It may take a bit of time to get it, but its worth it.

Some of us KNOW that somebody else is going to have to pay for it and opt to NOT burden our fellow citizens with our expenses. You do know where the government gets it's funding from right?

Today Budweiser showed up to our school and that they are hiring drivers
and students with a cdl for $9 an hour. If you a hard worker you might be making $15 an hour the within a year. Needless to say, I don't think anyone were interested doing this local job in class. Most of the accounts were to deliver to convenient stores. Werner did show up Monday and painted a better picture.

    SCARY!
