I'm still in Hyannis, NE because I don't like the look of the roads.
They have slowly been getting just a little better so I'm planning to get out of here in the morning.
75 miles down to Ogallala, and the second half is worse than the first.
I've been following the plow progress and I have not noticed a single plow on that road.
NE has a pretty good DOT road info site, though only 2 cameras for that stretch of road.
But, I have no more food, no clean clothes, and less than 1/4 tank of fuel.
I need to get out of here to fix all that.
First stop is Walmart in Ogallala, then on to Sydney to fuel at the Love's if I have enough fuel.
Then on to Cheyenne. I hope the clear weather holds out through tomorrow.
I had a pplan, a Lowe's load going to CT.
That fell through because I sat today out.
The next one was exactly the same but with a different load number.
Both t-call in Gary.

And I never shower at those little places, or at terminals.
My showers are done when I shut down, never before I leave.
Too much effort to wake up an hour early and go through the routine of a shower before I start my day.
At the end of the day it is relaxing, while at the beginning it is just a total pain.
But I do know how you feel.
I don't feel right before I can splash some warm water on my face and through my hair in the morning.
Not to mention some coffee.dptrucker and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
Relocated to the loves in Elkhart, drop the first gate on Monday

I'm glad today is over.
I got out of Hyannis this morning. I was going pretty slow in the snow, but Sunday morning in nowhere-land...
When I got to the Love's in Sydney it was all backed up because there were few pumps working.
I went to the last pump, got authorized and almost started to fuel. But the pump would not turn on.
So I went inside, and was told that they knew that pump was down but they were told not to block it off.
They make the drivers come inside to find out, and then I had to go back around to get in line again for one of the 2 pumps that were actually working.
It took over an hour to get fuel.
When I got to Walmart to deliver the load I could not unhook. The fifth wheel would not release.
I could pull the lever out, but it would not lock. Even the fifth wheel unlock button in the cab failed to get it released. So I called on-road.
After a while a truck came out and he helped me get loose of the trailer.
I go find an mt, and after hooking to it I find that it has an air leak.
The red line from the trailer where it meets the glad hand was cracked.
Another wait for on-road and another truck. Actually, it was the same guy that helped with the fifth wheel.
(And yes, I did try to unhook from it to try and find another mt, but I had the same problem unhooking as last time. Just too cold, I guess, as a Knight driver had the exact same problem when he pulled in next to me as I was waiting for the repair truck the first time. After I got loose I helped him the same way.)
Just about 6 hours from getting in to Walmart to getting out again.
I sent a mac-22 for my next load, because I wasn't going to deal with the fifth wheel problem again tonight, and headed to the TA where I had reserved a spot.
I had to wear yesterdays t-shirt today because I was out of clean clothes, and I didn't even have a clean pair of socks for tomorrow.
But I was able to get the laundry done tonight, so I am happy in that respect.
I'm glad today is over.FerrissWheel and dptrucker Thank this. -
Well, today was much better.
I bought a fifth wheel puller at TA and that gave me enough leverage to keep it pulled long enough to let it lock in place. Things move more slowly in this cold.
This LT has the hardest pull of any fifth wheel I have had, and I just could not keep it pulled long enough with one hand from under the trailer.
There is bad weather between here (York, NE) and Gary, IN, but it should clear up before I get there.
Hopefully.FerrissWheel, jackoboyo and dptrucker Thank this. -
