Sorry to hear that. Should be in warranty though. Hope they bet you back on the road soon.
-
That sucks, sorry to hear that! I guess it could be worse though, it could be a couple months out of warranty. I guess they all can break from time to time.
-
Warranty ? i wish. 3.5 years old , paccar stopped making foden trucks 3 years ago, cat dont want to know either. i'll tear it down today see if it's damaged the block. got another engine lined up if needs be.
-
Whats your serial number bud?
If its the crankshaft that caused the failure Cat will at least cover the parts under the standard extended warranty which goes for 5 years, 500000 miles or 10000hrs (assuming its a truck engine). -
That 120,000 must not be the truck mileage then? That does suck, maybe you'll get lucky and no other damage.
-
Engine serial number cpd02834 . Its a truck engine in a 32000kg 4 axle mixer, hence the low mileage.Got the engine out today, got to strip the pto off of it to get crank out so i may just put it back on an other engine..... but i havent decided yet. need to be back out earning but dont want to be having different trouble next week/month, u all know the score.... How much bigger physicaly is a c15 ?. just a thought.

The C-15 will never fit under that cab
We run a lot of C-12 engines over here on stop/start trucks and never heard of a crank breaking, push a bit harder on CAT to get it done under warranty. -
With that serial number, as long as you are the first owner and the engine has less than 10000hrs it is covered by cats standard extened warranty, so long as the crank was the cause of the failure of course. They will cover all the parts costs, you pay the labour.

C12 crank failure?, never seen it, maybe driver error, bumpimg a loading dock can shock a crankshaft resulting in a later failure?
