I've passed right by it twice. Then I read some stories on here. Next time I think I'll stop.

*hundreds of trips through Casper*
Wait, there's a... scale?!
But seriously, I never went in off I-25 north or southbound.Deere hunter Thanks this. -
Wyoming is a weird state. You only have to go in a scale (called a port of entry in Wyoming) if you see a big white sign that says something to the effect of "Commercial vehicles must enter port of entry" or if you need an oversize load permit. The Casper port is basically mostly for issuing oversize load permits. You do not need to go in unless you are on the 2 lane road that runs in front of the scale or you need a permit. If just on highway 26 just roll on by even if the sign says open. Now, likely you will have to go through one in Cheyenne or wherever you come in the state at. Another weird thing about Wyoming is they call just about everyone in but don't worry they just want to see your truck registration and IFTA permit. They will ask what you are hauling and where you are going. The DOT people in Wyoming are mostly nice. As many times as I have been in Wyoming POE (hundreds of time) I have never once been inspected. Best wishes to you!
P.s.-If you need to spend the night in Casper I highly recommend the Hat six truck stop at exit 182 rather than the tiny flying J at exit 186.Northern Nomad, snowman1980, nredfor88 and 7 others Thank this. -
If you are heading south on I-25 and pass that POE, just slip into the Walmart by the J.
They will never see you.superdutyfan Thanks this.
