I got all caught up. My hearts with the W9, but my wallets with Casper. The good used 4-5 yr. 379s, W9s are historically half the price of new, and have about 500k miles. Finance it for 4 yrs. and expect to pay almost as much in maintenance, over the 4 yrs. Almost the same cost of the new Truck. Figure resale on used Truck, now 8 yrs old and 1 million miles at 1/3, of price paid. maybe even less. More if it’s been inframed, still only half or less of the cost of inframe will be recovered, if it’s sold within 2 yrs. So much for resale. New Trucks the way to go, unless you’re like Me, and keep a Truck forever. In that case, the used one will eventually be less cost, after about 7 yrs. 4 with half the payment, 3 without a payment. Minus the major repairs. Finally after about 8-10 yrs. You’ll be way ahead of the game. Unless you figure lost depreciation, and added taxes paid because if it. Assuming you work steady. But, Working less. and having a reliable Truck, paid for, will be about the only real way to benefit. Better off with a Casper Truck. Bought cash, run it, maybe rebuild it, maybe not. Only if needed. Run it 4-5 yrs. Even if you junk it. Cost per mile, way ahead.

There goes my ontime delivery. I'll get to Ellensburg and wait for morning to decide on going OOR across US-12, or see if they reopen Snoqualmie

Hope it doesn’t affect the delivery of pineapples. They’re already too expensive. Sounds like a Trucking company In Hawaii. Lol

I agree with the thought process you have put down here.

Emissions systems could potentially throw a monkey wrench into it.

I have concerns with being able to diagnose and repair most any engine that has a DPF or DEF system. The diagnostic software/technicians have a proven track record of being inadequate. I also have concerns about the availability of replacement/repair parts in the future.

Also if running Cali is in the plans, their dynamic emissions compliance would be a concern. I can not remember when Cali is requiring EPA 2010 and newer engines.

Also federal EPA is starting to investigate and fine repair shops that modify emissions systems. This may figure into the calculations also.

Snoqualmie just sounds like place for an avalanche to happen.

The day IS coming where an emissions system will be required federally. It isn't a question of if, but when. Considering the powerbase of Washington at the moment I believe that day is coming much sooner, especially since we just officially reentered the Paris Accord.
