I live in rural Colorado but about to make a move back to Alaska. I have a woodshop and a bit of lumber that needs to get from here to there. I have a 20' container I should be able to load it all into if this is the best avenue to keep my transport expenses down. I am super flexible on when it leaves Colorado and arrives in Alaska. I don't have to take the container either if this isn't the most economical path. Hell, I can even transport my crap to a different location if this brings the price down. Zip 81433 to Zip 99664 ultimately. Can anyone help me make sense of this so I don't have to sell the children?....Cheers.

Might wanna wait till summer. With the current market situation and winter time, I can not even imagine this move costing you less than 15kjared boyd Thanks this.

Maybe truck container to Seattle, then boat to Alaska.
jared boyd, beastr123 and MTN Boomer Thank this. -
Lynden trucking goes to Alaska all the time. They can ship stuff on truck or boat. I have seen stuff about a boat/ barge that goes to Alaska. Lynden has barge service to Alaska.
When I was at Landstar they had some loads to Alaska for $4 or $5 per mile was the going rate back then. No loads out of Alaska so driver had make enough money to drive empty all the way back to Seattle. They had loads paying $15,000 to $23,000. I would think a company like Lynden could do it cheaper then average driver.OldeSkool and jared boyd Thank this. -

How to you plan on getting the can on and off the trailer?
jared boyd Thanks this. -
Good Question. I think I can source this in both locations I definitely can in Colorado without much fuss. I'd have to sort out the unload tho.

I can tell you that you will be likely paying full load price just due to your location. If you were in Washington or the Dakota's you might have a fighting chance on filling out somebody's load at $4-$5,000.
Full load your looking at around $15kLoneRanger Thanks this. -
Thanks.
Truth is, I could drag all my stuff to the Dakotas or Washington if I knew Id save 5-8k. The best rate I have gotten (Lynden) is about 9k door to door. Do you have any advice on how to connect with someone who has a half load?

In other words, you want it hauled as cheaply as possible and whether or not the trucker makes a profit isn't important to you?
