I heard K&B does a lot of overnight runs. I work for company that guarantees $1,000 a week minimum pay. They expect you run work basically 14 hours a day to get you as close as possible to 70 hours a week. They do pay you for all the miles you drive, if you drive more then the minimum guaranteed. I find it keep the pressure on dispatch to keep the truck running.. we do lots of drop and hook loads. We get short runs and that makes it difficult to get more then 2500 miles a week for a 70 hour week

Could you please explain the basic rules they use to determine if you get the minimum.

Most of the posts I have found talking about a guarantee weekly pay seem to all follow the max out the 70 hour work week which makes sense. If they keep you busy you should easily hit the minimum so it really is not something they have to worry about paying out often. In the end maybe the real benefit is they keep you busy? At least to me that seems to be the real advantage.

I came upon this thread when doing a search on "guaranteed weekly minimum." I just happened to receive an email from K&B Transportation providing information on their weekly minimum pay. What the email doesn't so is explain how it is applied and what factors prevent a driver from qualifying. I will copy and paste the contents of the email so that maybe a driver with some experience can unravel just what it all means, practically speaking.

K&B Transportation is hiring! We have two pay options for OTR drivers here. Option one is for drivers wanting to maximize hometime. They start at 58 CPM with a $1450 minimum guarantee! This option offers raises up to 62 CPM! Start ASAP and get$1000 bonuses your first two checks on option one! Option two is for drivers that are willing to stay out two months at a time. They start at 65 CPM with a $1625 minimum guarantee and no bonus! With our top miles, full accessory pay and more the guarantee pay is just a minimum and easily outearned! Option one drivers can earn $75,000 to $80,000 yearly, drivers on option two can earn up to $85,000 yearly! You can earn up to $2000 on top weeks at K&B Transportation.

Top Miles! Our Drivers Average the Highest Miles in the Industry! Easily Outearn Your Guarantee!
2018 and Newer Tractors and Trailers! 100% APU Equipped
Midwest Regional or National Lanes! Guaranteed Hometime!

If you have a CDL A and 6 months experience look no further! If you have not already done so, please complete your 3 years of work history and a signed release.
Good luck to you, whatever your choice ultimately is.

One driver on this forum worked there for a few years and said the pay advertised is the real deal and easy to achieve.
BAKARI742 is the driver and he also posted on this thread.

So it has me wondering why there seems to be confusion with drivers complaining that the guarantee is never paid or difficult to meet the requirements.

They listen to coffee counter Rambo gossip or hang around truck stop TV lounges which is where the complainers hang out.
If we believe all the gossip from complainers, we'd never leave our home out of fear.

Say you're on a load with a 0700 live unload appointment. You get as close as you can the shift before - 50 miles out. You pretrip at 0500, on the road by 0520 and at the consignee by 0615. By the time you clear the guard shack and check in at receiving it's 0650. At 0830 you're out of the dock and ready for your next load. KB tells you to go down the street, drop your trailer in a dock and start a 10 hour break while they load you. The load goes 400 miles and must deliver by 0500 the next day.

It's a lousy load in terms of both pay and lifestyle, but you suck it and get the job done. You deliver at 0430 and have 5 hours left on your clock. You're tired, dirty, and in dire need of some throne time, but dispatch wants you to deadhead 100 miles for a 0700 live load. Theoretically possible, so you put on your big boy pants and go to work. This goes on all week - you've only done 2,000 miles but they were HARD miles. At least you've got the guaranteed paid right? Right?

Turns out that on Wednesday you were sent to Birdseye to pick up a load, but after waiting in line for 30 minutes to check in you were told you needed to be at Americold next door. It's a Birdseye load, and the BOL lists Birdseye and the Birdseye address as the shipper, but it loads out of Americold next door. By the time you check in at Americold you were late for the appointment which means you had a "service failure ", thus no guaranteed money.

How long can you keep running like this? Starting right on your ten, maxing your clocks, swapping sleep schedules? It's a rough life for $1,500 especially when you consider there are a lot of other gigs paying more with better work conditions.

KB works for some, just like there are some CR England lease drivers who are very content and do multiple leases with them. Doesn't mean it's a good company or your results will match.

Awesome information and breakdown of how doing everything exactly right can still result in negative consequences that ultimately affect pay.
