Lol i don't have a decision to make i was just wondering if their still bottom of the barrel...you answered it. We're making more running local dry van in the northeast than we did pulling sand boxes 2 years ago. Marcellus region in northeast PA. Rates would have to go back up to where they were in the start of the boom 8-9 years ago when every company couldn't put enough meat in the seat.

I do miss the comradery of the oilfield. Different class of people compared to the road. Don't even have think twice about lending a hand when someone needed it. Plus we all ran CB's, not like on the big road you don't hear a peep.

I don't think I've saw 1845 around here. They might have been here for a short time until they got ran off the area

I've seen several 1845 trucks running sand for a glass factory in Dewitt Iowa.

Any advice for a company driver that has always wanted to work in the permian?
Honestly , that was why I got my CDL in the first place but my timing was horrible!

I started working in the Permian in early 2014. Driving is my second career. I attended a driving school. I was hired to haul water out of school with no driving experience. I progressed to hauling crude oil and chemicals. Generally, in the oil fields you will make more money than OTR, but the work is a lot harder. Also, the quality of life is awful; mostly middle of nowhere towns with nowhere to go and little to do. With most companies, they will pay you a great salary, and some provide company housing. Although the latter is starting to die away. If you have any driving experience, you should have no trouble getting hired, especially hauling sand, water, or chemicals. Oil usually requires some degree of experience. The oilfield gigs workout best if you're single. Most of my coworkers only went home once a month. Get in, bank your money, and then get out or wait for the oil bust.

In the oilfield you have to make your money when you can, payoff bills and don't buy anything if you can't pay cash for it. There's always bust around corner.

Sand Revolution has been blowing me up trying to get me out there. I'm actually very seriously considering taking them up on their offer. They seem pretty chompy so I'd imagine they have alot of work otherwise they wouldn't be hiring so aggressively.
